Re: What Happened To This Wolfie?

Are you talking about the "faked" video of the octo and the dogfish from the aquarium, where the dogfish is nearly beaten into submission before the GPO even moves an arm toward it?

Re: Interesting Octo behavior
I did a dive a couple of years ago with Laura James, and we found a little tiny octo at the Junkyard who had done something similar. When nothing else offers shelter, I guess you make your own. I'd love to see a little octo digging a hole some time . . .
I wonder if th...

Re: Octopus and Soap

I'd rather see action that results in no wrong found, than wrongdoing with no action from the community. One of the members of our dive club recently showed a video from Maui that had the DM handling an octo to get it to ink. Someone on our forum started up a thread saying that it disturbed him. It ...

Re: FS: Catalina S80

It's a Catalina S80. It was originally bought in 2005 (first hydro year) and used for probably about 10 dives before I went to steels. It is a yoke valve, has a tank boot, and is brushed aluminum (not painted) finish. It is in need of a current VIS but has a couple years on the hydro. It has been st...

I can't imagine how many poles are down there- you'd have to bring them all up and have this guy pick his out.

SPAM

Yesterday I received a spam email that included all the email addresses it was sent to. There were hundreds, but in browsing them I noted at least one with nwdiveclub as the domain name, and I recognized dsteding. Someone got ahold of the nwdiveclub mailing list? Or does one of the moderators/admini...

HAHA- I went to that view, and then thought "this sucks, it must be down". Then I realized it is night there, and checked some of the daylight shots!

I had never seen urchins at 3Tree before- then last time I was there, we went a little farther north, and there is a concrete base with a rope attached to a box that is attempting to float to the surface- it is about 10' off the bottom. I looked in the open top, and amidst a bunch of scallop shells,...

I'll give you #4- Kelp Isopod (idotea wosnesenskii per Welks to Whales). On the last pumpkin carve, a rather large one swam over and sat on the end of my "pumpkin" while I was cutting the stem end off- like it was waiting to go inside when I was done. I really love that little crab, whatev...

Until you have held a baby still while they are being circumcised, you don't realize just how much power a baby has! I mean, I can physically restrain my 10 year old daughter, but she's never fighting FOR HER LIFE! A baby doesn't know to hold back, and they are STRONG!

I bought two OMS Vegas- had to hand one off to a buddy ona night dive at the BHUT (Bruce Higgins Underwater Trails) and it looked surprisingly good next to my 10w Sartek can light. Next night dive at the BHUT my can light wouldn't fire after we swam out, I went to my Vega and did the whole dive with...

Don't look in the foreground- look just above the eye and slightly left, on the ceiling. Looks like rice. Well spotted, I would have missed that.

North of Golden Gardens is also the wreck of one of the "mosquito fleet" ferries. It has been dove a couple times recently by members of my dive club with kayaks.

The Halcyon wings have rods sewn into them so you don't need an STA. I cut small slits and removed them so I could use an STA for the extra unditchable weight.

Feel Good reading

here's an ongoing thread from another board I am on, the Honda Ruckus (scooter) forum. It is the ongoing postings and responses from Wan, a young Korean man who saved up for a year to come to America, buy a Ruckus, and drive at 30-35 MPH across the US from NC to California. It is truly inspiring and...

I also have an OMS Vega, I bought two. On one night dive at Edmonds, my buddy said his light cannon switch was kinda weird lately. Sure enough, halfway through it went out, I handed him the Vega and it worked great, light output alongside my Sartek 10w was pretty impressive for a backup. Next dive I...

I am amazed by how few people have seen a PSL. Many of them have quite the "sour grapes" attitude about it as well. I saw my first one on dive 19 (that's 14 dives since OW class!) I was at the Tides Tavern in Gig Harbor and went to pick up a Teacup that was lying in the much, and a PSL swa...

How about both hands up to the eyes, like a sign for "binoculars"? Emphasizing the "gotta look at this" aspect!
