Re: Dive flag (deep boat) float

I have another slick that I could use to make a replacement. I have a couple of ideas for improvement as well. What I don't have is the sheet stainless I used for the "flag" part of it. If anyone has something that will work, let me know and I'll try to get started on it next week. I found...

Re: Non Scuba subject.

Except for a couple of months after SWMBO volunteered me for a makeover show on Channel 4, I haven't been clean shaven since the first Reagan administration. At most, a little trim around the edges for a neat line for job interviews, weddings; that sort of thing. Currently, a razor hasn't touched my...

Re: Drysuits, AGAIN

One other thing that is an advantage for the White's suits is that the skins are stretchy. I knew someone who owned two custom dry suits because his weight would vary. The White's accommodates that.

Beach Replenishment DNS issued, open for public comment now

I had a chat with someone from Snohomish County Surface Water Management today and got some details. The DNS (Determination of Non Significance) was published this weekend and is open for public comment until March 10. The main purpose of the project is to increase spawning habitat for juvenile salm...

Re: Upcoming Beach Replenishment

I got a contact person with the County and will be talking with him in a week or so, depending on what's going on IWL. The source of the material is going to be dredge spoils, probably from the Snohomish River; we're about due to clean out the sediment traps and the previous disposal sites have been...

Upcoming Beach Replenishment

I have very few details beyond what I'm going to relate here, as I find out more, I'll pass it on. Winter of 2014-2015, Snohomish County is planning a beach replenishment project along the border of Everett and Mukilteo to the east of the oil and Boeing docks. They will be placing sand in (I think) ...

Wanted - out of hydro/failed hydro tanks

A cow-orker asked if I knew how to get ahold of no longer useful tanks for an art project. I think he's more interested in steel than aluminum, but would probably take either. No valves needed.

Anyone have some?

SSpiffySpouse home from Swedish

She spent two days there to "cool off" a bit from the Iodine 131 dose she got on Wednesday. I'm still sleeping on the couch for the next two nights and the cats are boarded until then. But it's good to have her home.

Re: Weight Harness need

Take a look at DUI's "Scratch and dent" list. Right now they have three, two new but discontinued (one L, one S) for $50 and one fair demo (S) for $40.

Tom, the yellow wetsuit looks a bit wider, is it?

I'm sorta in between Bare's sizes.

I could be available, depending on what LawDragon has to say. I'll let you know if I hear anything from him.

Cave Line

I just picked up a one pound bobbin of #24 Braided Nylon Twine aka Cave Line and don't envision using that much in this lifetime.

If anyone wants a foot or so, send me a PM with your mailing address and I'll send it to you in an envelope.

Re: Dumb questions

Prescription Dive Masks can put any prescription in any dive mask. If you are of an age where you need bifocals, but can read your gages close up without corrective lenses, I'd recommend getting the "see unders" instead of bifocal lenses. You'll save some money and have a larger close view...

Re: Dumb questions

I have an older Maui Brothers mask for now, and I'm searching for one with built-in diopters that's also a good mask. That's a search in itself. A "good mask" is one that fits you comfortably and doesn't leak. As someone who has been guilty of bumping along the bottom so I could see whate...

I just received a new Al 19 as a gift, so I'm thinking about the eventual setup. I was leaning toward slinging, mainly because it's essentially free, and this discussion seems to support that method.

Pony bottle, sling or bracket?

Discuss and opine.

I dive with a BPW, so either will work for me. What's your preference?

Re: Soaking Gear

Here's what I use. PVC set up as a siphon to drain it. Drop everything inside, put the lid on, load it with weights to keep the wet suit submerged, fill it with water, and let things soak for an hour or so. It was free.
