Found fin at Redondo

Anyone lose a black Cressi Frog-Fin at Redondo recently? Rus and crew have it at the MaST Center.
I'd hate to think someone out there is swimming around in circles.

Re: Anybody have, or know where to get, webbing clips?

When I had my shop, those things would sit in a bucket along with all sorts of weight retainers. Just in case someone needed a few. You know, impulse buy. Ha! Hardly moved a one. I did use them for adjusting rental weight belts. That was about the max use for these clips. Now you know why no shop ca...

Re: Found: GoPro camera

The owner of the GoPro camera has been identified and confirmed. With a bit of online detective work and some luck, I was able to confirm that this was the camera that got away at Redondo about a week-10 days ago. It evidently drifted N on the wind and tide and came ashore on the S side of 3 Tree Pt...

Found: GoPro camera

This past Friday at 3 tree, I was approached by a local resident who told me that she had found a GoPro camera on the south-side of Three Tree Point. She told me she had found it at least a week prior to this past Friday. (It may have drifted around the point from the usual dive site) The resident s...

Re: The deep boat float at Mukilteo

Looks nice! Keep an eye on your SS hardware. In commercial buoy work we use hot-dipped galvanized hardware. SS fittings can corrode in seawater after some time goes by. Strange as it may seem, the HD galv stuff will last longer (Usually). Are you applying any grade of a hard anti-fouling paint? Good...

You shoulda been there when she was burning. It was interesting to watch from the helo deck on the USCGC Boutwell.
Actually, I cheered as she went down. I spent way too much time in court over the violations I'd written against that crappy ship. Semper Paratus!

Re: LOST - Cove 2 ...mask, fins, hoods, etc

Don't beat yourself up too bad now. We've all been there and done that. Anywho...I have your gear. We were working on the new line system yesterday afternoon/evening. We spoke as you were gearing up for a 2nd dive. I came out of the water after dark and saw your gear. I assumed it might have been yo...

Re: Old Cove 2 buoys

Actually, when we built the first boundary line system, the outer 5 buoys were always yellow (easier to see in the dark). The smaller subsurface floats were red. As are the new ones. Some of the earlier buoys were stolen. I made the mistake of attaching them with nylon line. It's amazing how fast th...

Ron Taylor-passed away yesterday

For those of us who grew-up diving in the 1970's, one of our icons, (Ron Taylor) has found the perfect reef to forever dive upon. http://www.xray-mag.com/content/ron-taylor-dies Ron and Valerie Taylor were fascinating to watch and to follow their diving exploits. Australians are rightfully proud of ...

Ditto! Those new buoys are quite the sight!! Very comforting feeling really. Work be damned! Else i'd be out there today! We moved about 25-30 blocks last night to the orange buoy and will start to construct the "Critter Cove" as soon as we have a little outhouse worth of bricks! K Koos a...

Re: Cove 2 Work Plan

Contact the City/Port of Des Moines. One must take the initiative and be proactive. The new hand railing got done because some directive pressure from fellow citizens. The lack of buoys on the Saltwater State Park reef was resolved because of one citizens vision to "Get 'er done!" On a tec...

Wed and Thursday status at the cove: An outstanding couple of days. All the anchors are now in place. There are now three buoys that have been installed. A number of the old cinder/construction blocks have been moved over to the middle ground of the cove 2 area. John Sanders had a good time moving b...

Re: Saltwater St. Park replacement buoy project

Thanks Ross(Renoun)! Great shots from our "expedition" yesterday. This was the culmination of a project that started this past spring. I was frustrated over the lack of attention over the loss of the buoys at this jewel of an artificial reef. I felt that I should do something about it. So,...

In fact, I'd avoid the place entirely. Sounds as if it'll be a zoo. OK...more of a zoo than usual.

Work day at Cove 2 this coming Wednesday, August 22. Meet at noon.
Plan:
I'm shootin' to move some of the old buoy anchor pads over to the new line.
Also, now that the viz has improved, we'll work to recover more of the old and nasty lines, junk, etc still left there.

Thanks again to the hard work by our cove 2 crew today. Like Lynne said, we did get some good work accomplished even with the absolutely rotten viz! Re: Cove 2 Line and Buoy Project status

We got all sorts of work done at the cove today. Conditions were doo-doo in the water (technical term). Our work didn't help it at all. The old line has been removed down to about 90ft. The old buoys are now gone too. An anchor block got moved to the deepest point at about 70ft. That will be buoy #6...
