Re: New Lights for GoPro Cameras on Kickstarter

First know that I am a novice UW photographer. I have a GoPro-type camera on a stick. I use a Sola 1200 for light. The stick-type handle keeps me from getting my camera down low eye level with the fish. I have been wanting a tray for some time. So for me anyway, a tray, two arms, and two 600 lumen l...

New Lights for GoPro Cameras on Kickstarter

The people who make the Sola lights, LIght & Motion, have started a new campaign on Kickstarter; new lights designed for users of GoPro cameras. There are 18 days left in the campaign and they are already funded (just over 200%). You can check it out at: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ligh...

Re: Faber 100 cubic foot tanks, add four pounds

Did you run those tanks down to empty or something? 500psi is still 2lbs of gas (assuming no trimix) so you shoulda at most be light by 2lbs. I suspect you were light in your own tanks too, just not by as much. 40lbs and double fx100s? Does that count a SS plate? Something is not right here. Good q...

For those that know me, you realize that DUI used a bit more material to make my dry suit than what most of you dive with. Your buoyancy may differ.

Faber 100 cubic foot tanks, add four pounds

I have been diving with Worthington 100 cu. ft. 3442 psi tanks for two years. I currently wear 36 pounds of weight. I wanted more tanks so yesterday I picked up two new Faber 100 cu. ft. tanks (3442 psi) and today was my first dive them. I was noticeably UNDER WEIGHTED. I was holding on to two rocks...

Re: Why are all dive skins one piece?

Drysuit, seriously. A lot of us don't bother with wet suits at all anymore. A drysuit with long underwear underneath or possibly 100wt fleece is dreamy to dive in the tropics. A lot fewer skin infections, rashes etc too. Have you ever found water temps too warm for a drysuit? Ever get too warm in y...

Re: Fukushima theory gaining traction?

If you're worried about Fukushima, you'd better take down the smoke detectors in your house, move to a concrete-free building, and stop eating bananas. They all have orders of magnitude more radioactivity than you'll ever get from Fukushima. Oh GREAT!!!! *throws bananas at smoke detectors cofford i...

Am I not seeing the CCR equipment. Looks to me like you all are diving OC with twin tanks. So how come no bubbles. These pictures are amazing, took my breath away. But I would assume bubbles from at least one of the three. Regardless, stunning pictures.

Underwater Wheelchair

Take a women in a wheel chair, add a couple of motors from a scooter, strap a bottle on the back, add bow planes, and you have something pretty amazing. The video is from a TED talk in 2012, about 9-1/2 minutes long.

Re: I know this'll bring interesting conversation (p-valve)

Need some assistance here, it can't wait much longer. :)

I've loaded up the car for a dive tonight and I seem to have misplaced my quick disconnect valve. Any ideas where I can purchase a new one locally (Bellevue, Seattle). I will be trying NAPA and West Marine.

Cheers,

John

Re: Mukilteo Meeting - any info?

How do you know the hotel made a deal with the city over those spots? I know I've seen both hotel guests and staff park there in the past and nobody stopped them (it's public parking), but some sort of deal with the city is news. That is an excellent question. I stayed at the Silver Cloud Saturday ...

Re: Mukilteo Meeting - any info?

Something I learned today about the parking at the north end of the Silver Cloud motel. I'm talking about the four public parking spots on the north end of the motel, you know the spots that don't allow parking from 2:00 - 4:00 (or something like that) otherwise it's a four hour limit, plus the two ...
