Nice day at Edmonds with Justin and Betty. There was moderate wind, no rain, slight current and 20 ft vis.
We did the grand central tour: Boat Yard, Jackson, Cathedrals, Genius, Triumph, Lopez, Tuning Fork, Horse Fence and Giza. Big Ling and Cabbies at every site.

And it changed again. 3 am marine weather report has light winds Saturday morning increasing Sunday.
Not suggesting a plan change as Sunday is still OK.

Re: Edmonds Underwater Park Nov 16 or 17
Marine weather says wind from SW 15-30 kn tonight, 15-25 kn Saturday, from S 10-15 kn Sunday. So it will be stirred up and a long rough swim Saturday, easier Sunday with slightly warmer and little more chance of rain. I can go either day 9 am and have many dives at Edmonds. Pick up a chart of the pa...

Re: BLACKFISH
I helped take care of a newly captured Killer Whale at Ted Griffin's original Seattle Aquarium one night in 1971. That's where Namu was kept in the 60's. I was just a young diver and didn't know anything about them. I was told to 1. don't let her roll over, 2. Put zinc oxide (I think) on sensitive s...

Re: How to get good visibility?
Thank you for all of the replies! I really appreciate it! I was diving the Edmunds Breakwater and the viz was awful (<5ft.) especially at low tide, but I would like to go at low tide because then I could just snorkel around instead of putting on a tank. I know it is hard to get good viz when you ar...

Edmonds Marina south jetty. Best at high tide.
Enter at Marina Beach at south end of Admiral Way.
There are also three lines of rocks to deeper water about 50-100 feet apart perpendicular to the jetty.
There used to be a small sailboat in about 25 feet 2/3 of the way towards the marina boat entrance.

Yes, China Wall is definitely a boat dive. The small reef and Liker's is possible from shore but near access is private.

Blakely Rock and Blakely Harbor
Gale warnings predicted for Sunday (today) forced me to reschedule for a less bad day Saturday (yesterday). A predicted strong ebb tide, rain and possible thunderstorm turned into a stellar day for diving. We had no wind and no current in the protection of Restoration Point. There was no rain and th...

Re: Dive Charter frustration
In another thread we discussed the merits of boat ownership vs charters and several including myself said it was much cheaper to use a charter. Well now we're seeing the down side of charters. They tend to go to the places that they are close to, familiar with and safe for all levels. My boat costs ...

Re: Boat Dives in Vancouver/Victoria area
I went from Anacortes to Gooch Is to dive the Mckenzie a few years ago and was boarded by Canadian customs between dives. They made it clear you can not perform any task or activity during a pass through including fishing or diving. They would have let us report and continue but they found one guy o...

Re: Boat Dives in Vancouver/Victoria area
This might be a good place to mention - don't try to take a US dive boat into Canadian waters without checking in at Canadian customs before diving or you can get busted. The pass through rule does not apply if you stop to dive.

Sund Rock
I was meeting Monica and Mike at Hoodsport N Dive to get our Sund Rock parking passes ($17.50) when I ran into NWDC members Jason and Chuck. The dive site is 2.3 miles north on Hwy 101. A perfect day weather wise, sunny but not too hot and no wind. I didn't notice any current but then I didn't swim ...

Re: Sekiu Jetty - 8-12-2013
The best place to dive at Sekiu is Hoko reef. It's 3.5 miles west of Sekiu. It has neat topography with GPO and Wolfies. The top is at about 35 feet with 5 deep channels radiating from a center. Since it's 1300 feet from shore it might be OK by DPV if there's access but it's best to do by boat from ...

Re: I got bent (NHZ)
Was letting go of the ascent line to prevent the yoyo stop not an option?
I have a strap for ascent line rest stops in high surge areas like Neah Bay.
It's about 10 feet long and clips to me and to the ascent line.
