ISO Ikelite DS-51
Anyone looking to sell an Ikelite DS-51 strobe? I flooded the battery compartment on one of mine and it's still out for repairs and need a replacement sooner than it's expected return.

Re: A good fill in the Seattle area?
This is why I never complain about slight under fills. I literally won't use the gas anyway.Grateful Diver wrote: Wally: Hey Bob ... how much gas do you usually come back with at the end of a dive?
Me: Oh, maybe 1000-1200 psi.
Wally: Then what the f**k are you complaining about?

Re: A good fill in the Seattle area?
Funny everyone gets under filled at shops. I was having issues with getting over filled. To the point that my tanks burst disks had to be replaced. I got a bit cranky about it and instead of 700# over fills, they've at least been consistent with just a 2-300# over fill.

Best of: Day Island
Went out this morning to Day Island and hit the N. Wall. While a couple of GPOs were tucked back in their dens, wolf eels tend to be less abundant than the S.Wall. Today was a macro day, but I'm throwing in some shots from multiple dives at Day Island from 2016.

Hydroid?
Found these guys at Skyline on Saturday. What are they? They look like a large or pink mouth hydroid but the stalks were about 8" long with no polyps in the center of the tentacles.

Next time you find one of those big basketball sized red urchins, take your finger and wiggle one of the quills. All of the other quills should move towards your hand. Pretty wild thing to watch

I used my hp 80 last night and took another 2# off. I was fine. Thanks for bringing the weight difference to my attention.

Re: Is steel really that big of a dfference for weight?
I use 16# for my al80 and it's perfect, 14 and it's too light. I drop 2# for the 72 and the HP 80 is a newer tank for me. I rarely use it and use the weights that I have instead of buying more for the 1X/month that I do use it.

Re: Is steel really that big of a dfference for weight?
I only drop 2# from my aluminum 80 to my steel 80. You are either overweighted on the steel 80 or underweighted on the AL80. Depends on the tank(s) but the "empty with valve" difference is usually about 5 to 7 lbs. +4 on the AL80 and -1 to -3 on the steel 80. http://www.huronscuba.com/equ...

99% of fish have parasites, think about that the next time you enjoy a raw-fish sushi lunch. Once their exposed to heat via cooking their totally okay to eat. I see these particular parasites on lingcod all of time. In fact some at Edmonds are covered in them. I think they are the oceans version of ...

For future reference, I will have extra tanks (an LP 80 and an HP 80) with me at these dives if someone should need them or didn't have time to get theirs filled. Just let me know via comment/facebook/pm that you'll be needing them.
Cheers!
