Moving on

Just wanted to say bye to the PNW as I move to Kentucky. I enjoyed my time here, got my instructor cert and loved bringing new divers into our world. To those I have gone under with, thanks for a great dive. Also thanks to the staff and members of Seven Seas Scuba in Vancouver WA for their support, ...

Re: Lake Dives around Portland/Vancouver

I've gone into Yale Lake twice this year. The motor boats did make me nervous at first, but I found a depth that was okay. If you go to the right of the boat launch it drops off nicely into 40-70' (must have been a pond before they made the lake). I drug a flag with me, but people on the surface sai...

Quick report on sites from this week

Hello all, just wanted to let everyone know what was seen at 3 sites this week. Monday Sund Rock was nice, a little choppy on top which stirred it some at shallower depths. Monday Les Davis we tried to enter but the entry was clogged with logs and debris Wednesday Mikes Beach Resort GORGEOUS! Vis wa...

Programs

Whenever I come up and look at my pics, I end up deleting a lot that are borderline. Can anyone recommend a good program to assist with the back scatter and/or to clean up the shot? Thanks.

I ended up on the east side of Vancouver, close to the Oregon border. Almost have everything put away (dive gear went in the truck with me, so it's ready any time).

Finally made it

After a trip around the country to visit relatives (and dive in Big Sur CA, first cold water dive) I have made it. Mover delivered everything on Saturday and we are setting up the house finally. Good to be here and looking forward to getting wet soon.

Orcas

Has anyone had an experience with an Orca while diving? I have studied these majestic beauties and the diver encounters so far have been friendly (I guess the unfriendly ones leave no survivors?).

lol, from what you said the vis is better in the water than on the surface. I assume it is ice diving in the winter in places? Can I get certified for that up there?

Anybody with kids who has watched Shark Tale has seen the gang of shrimp who challenged the sharks, maybe you ran into one of their members?

Well, I haven't passed out due to the neck seal yet (trying on and wearing a drysuit in FL makes me want to pass out from heat), so I'll leave it right now and dive with my instructor. Hopefully I'll be a little more comfortable with it when I get there then

New dry suit

All right, just got my drysuit, I learned about trimming the seals (only a little at a time). The wrists are fine, but the neck is CHOkin.... I'm leery about trimming it for the first time, but also don't think that diving with my throat and arteries being closed is good. Any advice?

Yea, that's what the couple from England said who were on the boat. My dive buddy here (who has no plans to go into anything under 70 degrees) said that when I come to visit that I'll be like everyone else now and say this water is too hot!!
