Re: How many of you would participate in ongoing cleanups?

it would be best to leave the ghost nets to the professionals. There's a lot of documentation that goes into finding and removing them, including counting and identifying the remains of animals caught in the nets. I spent a day on a boat with the pros, and underwater with the divers, shooting video ...

Re: Skyline Diving Accident

It was wildly inaccurate. The reporter took a very poor understanding of the event, and filled the gaps with hearsay and guesses - all in an effort to get something dramatic published quickly. Am I surprised? Not anymore. But I still think it sucks - the people involved (victims, family, friends an...

What is it in the article that you consider drama? It seemed to me to be pretty straight forward.

Re: Videos help!

Is a standard digital camcorder good enough or do I need HD? Also is there a good program for editing the video clips? It depends on what you want to do with your video. If it's something for family and friends, there's no real need to go with HD. chances are most people won't care if it's not high...

My website is here. Most of the videos are from before I got the Hi-Def. I also have a comparison page to show the difference between Digital 8 and Hi-Def.

It's a nice rig, Calvin. I've been using a Light and Motion setup for the HC3 Hi Def camera for a little over a year now. It was amazing seeing the quality of the video on a hi-def TV. It's ALMOST better than being there in person! The biggest problem is that it just gets more expensive from here on...

It's very frustrating to have material stolen. I once had a web site that had dive site reviews. Someone emailed me, saying a local dive shop was using my reviews on their web site. Sure enough, page after page of my material was there. I immediately sent them an email regarding copyright violations...

Come out and join us for a few work dives. After a few dives with Bruce you will realize that any dive where you are not towing a load of concrete and lift drums with you is an easy dive.... You're not trying to scare volunteers away, are you? (just kidding) In case anyone is wondering what a work ...

It did happen at the pipeline. According to the Medical Examiner's office, the victim was a 48 year old man from Kent. His name has not been released yet, since his family had not been notified as of about noon today. The ME said the family is not from this area. They should have more information ab...

Does anyone have any good contacts with the local media? All the tv stations have tiplines you can call or email, many story ideas come in that way. The best bet is to let them know a day or two in advance. Once the date gets a little closer, post a reminder and I'll pitch it to the station I work ...

Thanks for the welcome, everyone. I haven't been diving as much as I'd like lately, hopefully that will be changing soon.
In case anyone's interested, I have a website with some videos and pictures.

Another one joins the club

I've been reading messages here for a while as a guest, and finally decided to join the club. I'm a long time (18 years) diver, with about 1000 dives under my belt, most of them in Puget Sound and the Pacific Northwest. I've been fortunate to have had the opportunity to dive in some other amazing lo...
