I'm always cutting, reattaching, retying, remelting something. Tonight it was the straps to attached tanks to the tank rack in my boat. I have an old soldering iron pretty much dedicated to nylon and/or polypropylene melting. 40W, works great, been working great for years and nothing wasted. I agre...

OK time for the all important question what is the difference between the LP and HP tanks. I know operating pressure is like 2400 for LP and about 3400 for HP. Is there any good or bad to either. I am thinking of going with HP100's or so. http://www.scubaboard.com/archive/index.php/t-8382.html dece...

Jeff, Have you checked lighthouse? They used to rent steel 100's many moons ago. I do not know if they still do. They are still listed on their website. http://www.lighthousediving.com/rental.html $12 a day + 1st air fill. With that being said, lighthouse isn't really that highly reguarded for their...

using less fossil fuels and shifting towards renewable stuff, or at least using compact fluorescent and solar tech? Why would that be bad? Most of our power is hydro, isnt that renewable? I guess what I am trying to say is that many people overlook the bigger items in a house that consume more foss...

Solar hot water in seattle? I think tankless gas is more prudent. The overemphasis on CFL bulbs is total crap. It's like putting a bandaid, on an axewound. One of the smallest uses of electricity in a household is your lighting. Most houses use less than 1500W at any given time. Besides, the light o...

Say how close is the entry point to Alki beach??? I invited wifey and she said yes, but with son it would be nice for them to be able to go to beach while I dive. They never seen me in my gettup before. about a mile, but sometimes (on a sunny day) it can take forever to get there. The beaches at th...

It has nothing to do with chloride (ions of which are everywhere in seawater) Approximately 35% of PVC is phtahlates, a plasticizer. You want me to get into their toxicity too? . http://www.phthalates.com/pressrelease/details/index.asp?id=20 EU report on phthalates. Most of the countries that have ...

I have heard of reports from issues with plastics, but nothing definitive... . I'd really be interested in seeing some hard data on the rate of which chlorides leech chlorides into the water. Then again isnt salt water full of chlorides? Tap water going into the sound puts chlorides into the water....
