Re: Re: Bottom timers
I just went to a Tec 2g. So far so good. I saw the Liquivision Zen today. The OLED screen was great. Its a small, nice timer, and you can replace the battery. The price would make one consider just getting a second real computer. Yep. I'm not cheap about gear, but 499$ for a bottom timer is kinda ha...

Re: Security zones
Harmless is good, but if you are in an outboard doing 20-25 miles an hour, I would wonder how much you would even hear. I would think that you would have to be in front of them. The other thing that bugs me. 100 meters out of a shotgun? on a moving platform? The shooter would have to be a great shot...

Re: Security zones
Doesn't seem to be loud enough or blinding enough to be an effective flashbang. They are best deployed in contained area where the noise/flash and concussion are magnified. I would say, in this context, they would be useless.

Not surprised about the clip, but the grips are usually taped with duct tape

Wow. That is trolling, there isn't even close to enough information in there to make a comment on what happened.Pez7378 wrote:Any of you "Experts" have an opinion on this incident?

Re: Dog shooting in Des Moines
Don't get me started on the lack of self reliance. Understandable, but, police are paid not to overreact. Can you imagine the chaos had the dog been carrying a closed folding blade knife? I peer into your short statement and see it's actually 1,000ft deep (with great viz!) and I agree 100%. People a...

Re: Dog shooting in Des Moines
I guess my big gripe is that most police officers do a lot of domestic calls. Dogs are involved fairly frequently. A LEO should know what dogs are more likely to be a hazard-yes, I know any animal can be a hazard to someone if it feels threatened, but I would think a LEO would familiarize themselves...

Understandable, but, police are paid not to overreact. Can you imagine the chaos had the dog been carrying a closed folding blade knife? Des Moines is where an old lady was lethally mauled by a couple of loose dogs last year. I got a feeling that might have had something to do with the over reaction...

I don't know if Lahaina changed a lot of personnel since you were there, but I would say that the shop workers were.... "challenged" when it comes to basic understanding of things such as breathing gas. One of the people in the shop told me that they "could not put air into into an AL...

The charter claimed 90-95% success rate. I have no complaints.

Re: Is it worth it?
We took the charter over to Molokai to Dive with the hammerheads a couple of weeks ago. It was pretty cool, saw about 30 Scalloped Hammerheads and had a cool encounter with a 8-9' gray reef shark that hung out with us. Makena/5 Graves Black Rock Mala Pier Red Hill Those are the ones I would make sur...
