Re: Return To The Kehloken

Great video!!

I liked seeing what it looked like before it was sunk. Interesting to see how much it has changed since I started diving on it in the late '80s.

Thanks for making this video.

Re: Science diver* transplant looking to find community and keep up my diving experience

I have a Diving Concepts "crushed" neoprene drysuit that I am looking to sell. It has Viking dry glove rings attached and I have drygloves that I will send with the suit.

Send me a PM with your size and we'll see if it will work for you.

Re: Sixgill sightings: database?

I was part of a project at the Seattle Aquarium about 10 years ago as a volunteer diver where we set up a bait station and would tag sharks and take biopsy samples. They have been maintaining a database of sightings. When last I talked with Jeff Christiansen (SA DSO and biologist) he said that the l...

There is a local freediving group that has a mailing list on Yahoo Groups by the name of Bottomsounders. They have some fairly active members that free dive from time to time.

Re: Viz Reports Thread

11/24 Port of Everett dock (Edgewater) 3 to 5 feet very milky due to river flooding. Very dark at 60 feet. No crab but I did see a lot of 5 arm starfish that were about dime size (measured arm span) in the shallows in the eel grass bed.

Re: Viz Reports Thread

7/22 Mukilteo at the site of future ferry dock.

Vis at surface 0 vis at -10 was 2 feet.

We had to swim a long way out to get to deeper water where the vis opened up to about 20 feet once you got below -50.

Water temp was very warm 54F.

Re: Coverting regulator back to Yoke before a trip

If you can find one the Poseidon din to yoke adapters have a low profile and they do not cause the first stage to stick out too far.

Re: Weights Minimum

Back in the day when I was assisting with students our rule of thumb was 10% of your body weight plus 10 pounds to start and then once we got them to open water we would add or subtract as needed. They were using double layer (farmer john plus top) wetsuits and aluminum 80 tanks. We wanted them to b...

Took me a while to figure out how to enjoy the full 360 effect. I was watching one of your 360 videos on youtube and I moved my ipad around and viola things started moving around. THIS IS SO COOL!!!! It is amazing how far video technology has progressed. Thanks for sharing this with us.

A few words of caution about diving around the Port of Everett (Boeing) dock. This is a working dock and the long shoreman / tug operators get very upset if you are diving aound or in the dock while they are dropping off or picking up a barge I have seen them get very upset with divers there. We did...

Re: Shore diving Agate Pass

Nice video Back in the day before scooters we used to swim diagonally across the pass. Much easier and safer to do it today with scooters. There was always the chance that you would get blown out into the Sound which made for a very long swim to shore. If you have a boat it is nice to dive it on an ...

Re: Recreational chamber ride?

Some time ago I want to say about 10 years or so DIT (Divers Institute of Technology) had an intro to commercial diving class and one part of it was going on a chamber ride in their chamber. I think we rode down to 60 feet and then did a slow ascent. If I recall it was cramped, hot then cold. It was...

With my twist on lights after I turn them off I usually press in on the head to see if that will turn on the light if it does I undo it a little bit more. There is a fine line between having it unscrewed enough to be turned off and having it unscrewed too far and flooding. I have had some well meani...

They are not leaving any pilings in the water they want all of the creosote removed. It will be a barren wasteland where there once was an oasis of life. Go dive where the Edmonds oil dock used to be and see what it looks like.

When I was actively assisting classes as a dive master I never was paid. The only "benefits" that I received was free air and a discount off shop prices for gear. The amount of shop fills that I got barely compensated me for my insurance.

Re: Hello! Started my dives in Pacific with losing my GoPro

One thing that has been suggested on here before is to label your camera with your phone number, e-mail address, etc. so that if you lose it and it gets found they have a means to contact you. Some people also create a word or text file and put it on the memory card with contact info. I hope that yo...
