There is UB Diving out of Courtenay. Also is New World Diving run by Marc Palay? He's a great guy with no time limits.

Re: Looking for instructor
I'd suggest finding an instructor that teaches neutral buoyancy at the start of the first pool session. That's how I teach as well as a couple of other instructors. When and where is his preference? Any agency preference?

Lost weight pocket last night in Cove 2
Last night my dive buddy lost a weight pocket from her rented ScubaPro BCD. If anyone comes across it (I suspect it is close to the boundary line when it was lost), please let me know. Thanks.

Koos,
We've never met in person, but you have a stellar reputation. I'm sorry you've had to make this choice, but obviously it was the right one. I wish you all the best in your next pursuits.

Re: WTB or rent Tech gear
I'm going to be selling some hardly used BM gear (can't reach my valves, so I'm going sidemount). I'll be selling the isolation manifold with valves and tank bands if you are interested (PM me in that case). I just need to put them up for sale.

Re: Scootering EUP
I want to take a stab at the responses one by one. 1) The rules are about providing a safe place to dive. They are not about specific users and all that much specific gear. Diving is not unduly restricted currently. "unduly" is obviously a vague and subjective term. 2) The basic logic for ...

I'd recommend following the rule of thirds. Last time I was out there, there was a strong eddy pushing us back into the channel on our way out.

Lost: Camera in Deception pass on 27/6/15
I know it is a long shot, but I lost my camera while drifting into Deception Pass. With the strong currents, could be anywhere, but I have to give it a shot:
Canon G15 in Canon WP-DC48 housing. Sea&Sea flash. BigBlue dive light.
I'll keep my fingers crossed, but I won't hold my breath.

Re: Beginners Camera
I started out with a G15 in Canon housing. First was using a Sola light to illuminate subjects. Then added a separate flash. I've moved onto an Aquatica housing for my Canon 5D Mark III. I'd be happy to dive with you and have you try it out so you get a feel for what you are getting into. I am not i...

Welcome! I'm relatively new myself. While I haven't gone yet, there's a group that meets regularly at Cove 2 on Wednesdays. If I am not mistaken, first dive is at 4 or 4:30, second one at 6:30.

Re: New to the Board and Seattle- WTB- Drysuit
I just logged back in after a hiatus. Also when renting, meet up the friendly folks from here at Cove 2 on Wednesdays. I have yet to join (apparently I am not friendly enough - kidding!), but I plan to in the next month or so. As you meet with people, ask for their advice, what they like, don't like...

Re: Where to buy a 5mm wetsuit in Seattle?
I picked up my Aqualung 5mm wetsuit through Underwater Sports in Bellevue. It was a special order, but it was the wetsuit I was looking for (and I'm very happy with it).
Whichever is your main dive shop, they should be able to order the one you want for you.

Re: New to the Board and Seattle- WTB- Drysuit
Years ago, I picked up a Northern Diver drysuit off CL. The fit was good, but the neck latex seal was too loose. So I ultimately mailed the drysuit to Northern Diver (in the UK) to get a neoprene seal installed. I'm really happy I did this, but I wish I had a drysuit from an American company because...

Jeff,
My family has a place out on Hood Canal. I'm hoping to do some diving there in Spring/Summer/Fall. I'll contact you when I start diving out there.

bm5w,
Email sent, asking about the logistics (I have a tentative PADI deep water dive specialty course as well).
Hopefully I'll meet you there.

Re: Seeking PADI DPV instructors
Thanks everyone. I picked up an Apollo AV-2. My primary dive buddy has the AV-1, and had been encouraging me to get one myself. After getting towed by him a couple times at Mukilteo (one boat dive, one from shore), I knew I had to get one. I was at Ocean Optical off Westlake when I spotted a DPV sit...

Seeking PADI DPV instructors
Hello,
I'm currently PADI AOW certified. Have two specialties so far: drift and nitrox. I just picked up a slightly used scooter (too good a deal to pass up). Is there anyone who would teach a class in early February?

Re: SSI AOW!
A late congratulations. I'm doing both PADI and SSI. I do like how SSI is a bit more stringent in the requirements. I have found they teach some different techniques (I'm speaking from the night dive specialty course that I took through SSI - Silent World). My goal is to become a master scuba diver ...

Re: Beach Clean up (above and below)
I'm up for this. My impression is it is most important to pick up anything that is plastic, as it breaks apart and gets eaten by birds and fish. My criteria for trash is: would anything eat this? And is this the only piece of garbage here? I picked up a beer can while diving off Playa del Carmen a f...

Oh, and I'd hope to meet a few dive buddies out here, namely in the Seattle area, a bit north and south for quick evening/weekend dives, and in Lake Washington. During the summer, I hope to explore a few areas out in the Hood Canal.
