Re: ThThTh 6/22

It's been over a year since I've done the ThThTh, but I'll be moving up to Tacoma area next month. It will be a lot easier to start participating in these! I had a great time at the last one.

Re: Wet suits for the sound

I have been using a Hollis Neotek semidry (wetsuit) for 2 years now. I generally get cold in the water at the very end of a dive. I only wear board shorts and a spandex longsleeve liner for a shirt (I think its for baseball or something). I can usually last around 45 min in winter water temps until ...

Re: Cressi stuff for OW cert?

Can't speak for their fins, but I do have a Cressi Giotto computer that I love. Been going strong for almost 100 dives now on its user replaceable battery. PC interface stinks though. I also have a Cressi SPG and mask that I use as a spare, they are both good. The SPG is very well made, I think. Ha...

Re: Hood Canal Phytoplankton visible from Space

I was at sunrise this Sunday and the top 25ft was pretty cloudy, but below that it was decent. Below 60fsw it was about 30ft and kept opening up below that.

Titlow 5/8 on the 1pm minus tide... 20' (so the entire water column) with the healthiest amount of life I have ever seen there. Sunlight coming down through the anenomes was amazing.

Re: Help with riddle

Well, I used sugar quartz and that completed the riddle. The lady at the front desk said that or sugar agates would be correct. We were rewarded with free ice cream from the schwanns man. Thanks for the help everyone! I took the family over to Salt Creek yesterday to show them the beauty and there w...

Re: Help with riddle

Thanks for all the suggestions. Is sugar sand a term that is used around here? I haven't heard it. The other riddles had answers that were things found locally, like pinecones and rhododendrons.

Help with riddle

So I am staying up at a beach resort near Sequim, and they have a riddle-based scavenger hunt. I can't solve this last riddle. Maybe someone here will know: I'm a little white rock My name is rather sweet You will find me on the beach Under your feet. Any ideas? I know it is something obvious, but i...

Dont forget to visit the ledges just downhill from the goal post pilings to the south. Sometimes there is a decently large octo under the shelves.

Re: Viz Reports Thread

Redondo was bad tonight until 15fsw or so, then it opened up to a chunky 15-20ft, all the way to the end of the deep line.

Re: Anybody dived Titlow recently?

I frequently dive that site, and visibility has usually been quite good. 20-30ft or so, but seems like it can get a little hazy after a big outgoing exchange, in my experience. Ive never seen the pea soup like you get in the canal. Last time I hit titlow was two weekends ago on the high slack, and v...

Re: Viz Reports Thread

For anyone looking to do a gear rinse, Lake Cushman had decent water yesterday up toward the north end. 40ft or so of vis until you get below 60ffw, where it drops to about 15ft. Nice and toasty at 63F in the top 30ft! 47F below that.

Nice pics! I was at octopus hole thursday night and the vis was terrible all the way down to 70'. The wall looked abandoned. The weather was great, though!

Re: Harper Pier / Barbara G

Myself and brother-in-law are likely going to come, if thats okay. We don't have scooters or boats, but we do have a 10x10 warming hut with a propane heater and table/chairs we can contribute for anyone who gets chilly (which may just be us since we dive wet).

How deep do you guys usually go at redondo?

Ive only got 7 dives logged, one a night dive, but havent gone much past 60fsw.

If i can get out of work early enough, I'd try and join ya. I just dont want to hold anyone back. My bouyancy and air consumption are pretty good.

Re: FL diver visiting in Dec

Im brand new to diving, and use an 8/7/6mm hollis semi-dry. It has seals on the wrists and ankles, with an attached hood, but you might as well call it a wetsuit. Im plenty comfortable right now, but getting out of your suit or a long surface interval might be a little intense in december.

Re: Finally committing

Hollis neotek semi-dry, with a lava core shorty underneath. Got a killer price on it, and put more into getting the bp/w setup i wanted. I felt great to 60ft for both dives today, and during the surface interval and in the parking lot. Although, it wasnt 33 degrees out either. Ill invest in a drysui...

I know this is kind of old, but while diving at sunnyside park today, a nearby resident and I got to chatting. He stated he had spoken with BNSF and that the new bridge over the tracks should be completed in November.
