Re: Relocating to Seattle

Welcome! There is a considerable GUE community up in Seattle, and lots of awesome diving (both technical and recreation ) to be done. I am sure Koos (the local instructor) will chime in here shortly. I live in southern California half the year, and I would gladly take a day in puget sound over a day...

Re: Some dumb questions in case anyone cares to opine....

No problem, but just be careful, I don't have many dives below 200'. Make sure you 1 put on your primary, and then backup with the primary straps inside the backups straps. I found that if I did by do this it would cause the straps to loosen up and sort of awkwardly sit around my arm. Also, I sugges...

Re: Some dumb questions in case anyone cares to opine....

1.) I have seen peeps put back up bottom timers on the left, right, pocket and not at all. Obviously your buddy is your most reliable depth gauge, but I dive a xen, so I have to be pragmatic, lol. I have messed around with which arm I wear my backup on, and I like having it on my right because if I ...

Re: For sale: Tech snorkel kit $60

seems very interesting, but im worried about My PPO going above 1.4 with such a snorkle, the other issue is what happens when im cave diving at ginnie springs and i have a failure ? Both of these are real concerns with closed circuit snorkels and even very experienced snorkelers have had accidents ...

For sale: condom catheders

Hi Guys, I am having a hell of a time using my pee valve. I put on the catheter, but when I use it, it doesn't drain to the outside of my suit. So up for sale are all of what I have. The guys at CVS said they would work, but they really don't. Preferably, someone would just tell me what I am doing w...

Re: re-breathers

Not many. I am very recently certified in technical diving. I can only share my opinion, which is limited. Yet, I do not think this makes what I am saying invalid, or terribly ill-informed. I might ask, how would you view my comments if I had 200-300 dives in the 130-199 range? I think many here wo...

Re: re-breathers

Once again, I will repeat what I have been saying. A rebreather is a tool. This tool is awesome for the proper applications. Richard, I completely agree that if you cannot sustain a project on OC then you should do it on CCR. No argument there. Here is what I am trying to get across. There are those...

Re: re-breathers

Maybe I need to clarify a little bit. In my comments I meant no insult to any of the people on this forum. I really am just arguing semantics for the sake of arguing. 1. Many people dive unnecessary equipment for the sake of diving unnecessary equipment... this is not limited to rebreathers. Hell, l...

Re: re-breathers

That is to say that one does not need helium above 200 feet. Newsflash! There is such a thing as open circuit trimix. I personally believe below 100 warrants trimix. And no, you do not need a rebreather to use it. and FWIW- sure, if you find yourself doing hours down at 200', maybe a breather is a ...

IMO, to say that any dive above 200 feet has no need for a rebreather is wayyyy off base. That is to say that one does not need helium above 200 feet. Newsflash! Re: re-breathers

I think there is merit to what the OP is saying. It is all about the right tool for the job... and many people dive rebreathers when they don't have any good reason for it... other than male compensation For clarification... most technical dives in the 0-200 range have NO need for a breather. And if...
