Re: Do flounders like divers?

Hundreds of Rock Sole & various other flatfish at Redondo & Three Tree lately. Not sure why? But it usually involves sex or food. Really cool experiment Eric! I will try it myself. I have had Sculpin swim up to me and "look expectantly" (anthropomorphism, I know, I know) when I, ah...

I read this as "A snorkel free dive buddy", i.e. a dive buddy that does not use a snorkel.

My bad. Carry on.

TTN 7 - 10. Dive 1, very low tide, ripping current, kelp all over everything, schmutz flying, 20'ish viz. Dive 2, high slack, lots of whale snot in the water, 30' viz, very nice. Hopefully we will get some of our really good Summer viz soon!

So... I take it that you have to bring your multiple spouses in order to attend this dive?! What if one of them won't give you "permission" to go diving?!?

Re: Viz Reports Thread

Redondo 7-9. Super low tide, fairly good sized exchange, mini Redondo river, 10' initially then opened to a nice 20' as we went north. South side was terrible 3' to 8' or so.

Hood Recommendations

What hood do you like in our waters and why? Are there brands you think are better than others? Or is it just a matter of finding one that fits your noggin?!? -For cold cold water, Sea Otter comes up over and over (I believe they come in 12mm?) -I have a big melon, and Whites was the most comfortabl...

Thanks for the super thorough descriptions and pictures! The first part makes me glad and thankful we get to dive around here all the time. But the pictures of the ‘decorated war bonnet cousin’ is really cool! Glad you had a ‘layover’ there and got to see family too. Yeah, it's easy to take for gra...

Denmark Diving - Lyngsbo

Since my reports are already ridiculously long I wanted to toss a separate report in for this site. Long report ahead - you have been warned! The name is Lyngsbo, and it is across the channel and upstream a bit past the bridge from Sobadet. With the winding channel that is Lillebaelt there are areas...

Denmark Diving - Lighthouse & Sobadet

Another long trip report warning ahead! The Lighthouse and Sobadet A 40th wedding anniversary is a good excuse to go to Europe, and when you throw in relatives who live in Denmark and the possibility of a stop-over in Iceland, it is an absolute no-brainer! Because my lovely wife actually does love m...

Did you see any of the lumpsuckers at Gardur? They grow BIG there! There is actually a commercial fishery for lumpsuckers. ... Now if I could just see one in the PNW ... No, darn it it, although not for lack of looking! I did see what is probably the same species at an aquarium in Denmark that has ...

Iceland - Gardur in September

Long dive report ahead – you have been warned! Iceland is an amazing place! Nestled between Greenland and Norway, and a bit NE of the UK in the North Atlantic, Iceland has a rugged beauty found in few places on earth. It owes its existence in part to volcanic activity astride two continental plates,...

Nice report Tom! Any critters in those beautiful cold waters? Those stairs are indeed sweet! Silfra is fresh water, and consequently pretty bare of aquatic life except for the occasional lost trout. The attraction is 40 to 45 minutes in crystal clear water and incredible underwater volcanic and tec...
