Re: FREE: Goodie Box P.I.F.

Ok the bag had been passed to linedog. Still a lot of good stuff in there! I added some reflex dive fins a couple snorkels and a mask. Enjoy!

Re: FREE: Goodie Box P.I.F.

I think I may have gotten skipped, no worries I'll go after bob. I won't have nearly as much to add as he does anyways as I am still new(ish) but I do have a few things for sure.

Re: Underwater camera basics..

So after all my research and planning I bought a Nikon cool pic P&S and a case for it. The camera is waterproof to 59ft it says so when we arrive in the Maldives we can't wait to get in the water so we throw our snorkel gear on and head out to see what's around. I'm in the water for 5 min and th...

Re: Going to the Maldives.... Suggestions please!

I just got back last night. I will post some pics and stuff soon.... Once I am not so jet lagged. And depressed to not be there anymore haha! We didn't see any Mantas while in the water, it is still early in the migration season and we only saw them on the way to a dive site shortly after getting ou...

Re: Going to the Maldives.... Suggestions please!

Great suggestions, I have heard about the carpe vita but since it's a live aboard I don't think I will use their service this time. But I found a pretty cool service right there at the resort that will take us on a 4 tank dive day for $50. And the is manta season so we should see some pretty large m...

Re: Dive light better suited for the PNW area

I knew that this one seemed a little but long.... Rather impractical it seems. Thanks for the info.

I ordered the only one I saw. It's 8" long. Wasn't aware of a shorty.

Re: Dive light better suited for the PNW area

The DRIS 1k finally arrived, this thing is much heavier than I expected. For those that have used it, is the weight an issue/annoying while diving? I also bought the goodman handle for it but the light seems a little long.

Re: Day Island Wall, 7-06-2014

Dove with Mpenders there the day before too and it was amazing. Even got to see a free swimming wolf eel and a mossy head war bonnet (I think that's what it was called), and a HUGE GPO too. . Big thanks to mike for showing me all of that. Day island is AMAZING. very cool place to go.

Re: Underwater camera basics..

So I went with the Canon T3i DSLR, got the package deal with the standard lens, a 700mm zoom lens, several UV filter lens caps, a wide angle lens, 2 tripods (5'' and 57'') and a grouping of other things to make above water life easier. Now I need to figure out a housing for this bad boy. I did a qui...

Just bought the DRIS with the goodman handle. 1000 lumens was too hard to pass by! Thanks for all the great suggestions and I will see you out there!

Re: Underwater camera basics..

Agreed, nice dialogue regarding photography. I took a different approach to UW photography. I did not take up photography until I started diving. In fact, I did not own a camera until I started diving 5 years ago. I started with a Reef Master Mini and was very frustrated, my shots were terrible, be...

Going to the Maldives.... Suggestions please!

The wife and I have a trip to the Maldives scheduled at the end of July and into August and I am curious if anyone has been there and if so what should I try and make a priority to see? We are staying at the Reethi Beach Resort and will have access to virtually unlimited shore diving but I was more ...

Dive light better suited for the PNW area

Hey quick question, I am looking at buying a new dive light that is better suited for diving in the PNW. I have never dove in an area that you would use a light in during the day and the Princeton Tech light I have used in previous night dives is not even close to bright enough to be of use during t...

New to the area, some general questions

Hey everyone! My wife and I are new to diving in the Puget sound area and are pretty excited to have found that the diving up here is as good as it is. I have been certified since '96 (I was 13 and have been out of diving for 5 years), and she is just now getting certified. On her first 2 open water...
