Re: Sixgill @ Redondo 8/2

Amazing experience Derek! Great pictures. I didn't see the shark but I did get a consolation prize of a Giant Skate!! It was at least 4 feet long and 3 feeet wide. Biggest one I've ever seen. It buzzed past me as I hung out at 90 - 100 feet waiting for the SixGill. Redondo Aug 2 2018 (9 of 61).jpg R...

Re: Local flight with a scuba tank - is it doable?

If you are traveling domestically you can save a lot of hassle mailing gear. Check online for rate comparison, I found that USPS is generally cheaper for bulky and heavy items. I once shipped a pair of bicycles home at the end of a week long ride down the Oregon coast, then continued by Plane down t...

Re: Local flight with a scuba tank - is it doable?

USPS will ship anything if you pack it right. I shipped 70 lbs of dive gear back to Seattle from Santa Barbara once for about $50. I shipped gear to and from Hawaii once as well. As long and you empty the tanks and remove the valves you should not have a problem. Ship them to a hotel or other busine...

Re: Options for video light - Sola 3800 S/F vs. FantaSea Radiant 3000 vs ???

The Sola products have fair degree of industrial design and a warranty. There is some real value in that for some folks. But most of these LED lights are an aluminum tube sealed by a 2cent o-ring. The led modules, batteries, and chargers are commodity items. Given the opportunity I would save the ex...

Re: Options for video light - Sola 3800 S/F vs. FantaSea Radiant 3000 vs ???

While I have not tried this light, a UW Video shooter I know highly recommended this light. At $83 plus this cost of batteries and a charger for another $50 you could buy 3 of these for the cost of one Sola. Might be worth a try if your budget is tight. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Photography-Video-200...

Great photo, nice background! I love that even looking at a tiny critter like this petite warbonnet, there is an even tinnier barnacle that shows up off to the left.

Too bad about the last minute cancellation?? Who wants to meet up at Redondo 9am anyways? I finally got my drysuit back so I'll plan on being there or anywhere else a few other folks are interested in meeting.
