Someone needs to moderate this post before this goes any further. Nothing is to be gained by this but a loss of respect for each other.

Thanks to everyone for organizing and participating in another great NWDC get together! It's was a blast to see so many old and new dive buddies! Re: Switched over to drysuit finally!

I find the shoelace, tube, etc to be a hassle. I tried them one or twice and quickly lost them as I unsuited. Now I just put on my lightweight glove-liners before I put my arms in the suit on so the seal is over the gloves. Problem solved and no extra items to remember and avoid loosing.

Wow, I love the baby RIL. You can even see the start of the "stars in the eye". I need to look up the lifecycle of the Red Irish Lord now to see where the juveniles usually get their start.

Another great ThThTh outing! The drive was a bit long, but well worth it. The three separate wrecks on I-5S seemed excessive however... I have a Diving Concepts onepiece zip up undergarment that I only used a few times and have not touched in years. It's yours if you want it. It should fit you just fine.

San Juans Sept 10th on Lu Jac

I had the pleasure to join an outing on the Lu Jac in the San Juans on Sunday for a wonderful day of diving. Amazing visibility and calm seas with just a bit of Fog & Orcas! The fog spoiled some otherwise prime dive sites early on as we could not do some of the more heavily trafficked sites with...

ThThTh 9/7 Dive Report

We had a great turn out for ThThTh 9/7 with seven divers for Splash #1 and eight for Splash #2. Conditions were very nice with a high tide enabling an easy stairway entry and good vis. At the end of the pier there was about 20' vertical vis all the way to the bottom, reducing to maybe 15' horizontal...

Re: Where would you retire in the USA to live and Dive?

Ok, but I also gave a suggestion on the where part.

As for Income Tax, you know your situation best. However, many pension, 401k, and other retirement funds may indeed be subject to Federal and State income taxes as they are paid out.

Re: Where would you retire in the USA to live and Dive?

You can always move to another State and trade property taxes for income taxes. Washington is one of the few states to not have income taxes, which is exactly why property tax has to be somewhat higher. I think WA is about #12 out of 50. Comparing per County property taxes rates in the state vs divi...

Re: Large display wrist computers?

I am curious why you only use your computer for gauge mode. Even if you like to run tables, having the computer to balance real time calculations and provide accurate repetitive dive guidance is useful for reference. Also, the with the Shearwaters the deco algorithm parameters are adjustable allowin...

Re: Large display wrist computers?

You can find a used Shearwater predator online for 300-400 from time to time. (There is one on Rebreather World right now) The predators are a bit thicker, but otherwise awesome even in gauge mode. With Shearwater's awesome service and software updates it will be a good unit for a long time. If you ...

Re: Dive Vehicles

Note that with an SUV even if you can only lay 4 tanks flat on the bed, you can pile everything 4 feet to the ceiling. You have a LOT more cubic feet of storage in a mini SUV than you can get in a sedan. Example with all seats in passenger layout: Passat 10cf, Rav4 38cf

Re: Dive Vehicles

Look in to a Toyota Rav4. Great small SUV , decent milage, available 4 wheel drive. I leased one for 3 years and nearly bought it at end of lease but jumped up to a Highlander. (Also a good option)

Thanks, i didnt know the difference. I went back and looked at some past Red Octo shots and clearly see the horn/no-horn difference. Are there other distinguishing markings?

Re: ThThTh 7/6

I'll counter your 3-5 feet and lower the ante to 1-3 feet. Really murky and cloudy all the way past 65 fsw opening up to that amazing 3' vis at 75 fsw. No wide angle photos were taken during this dive! Some red octo's were to be seen which is always nice.
