Re: Aaaargh!
+1 for the airsplint. Its really important not to reinjure it, you can lose the wiring to your brain as to the position your ankle is in (I did), which makes it really easy to sprain in the future (and harder to keep your balance). It might be worth it to pay for a couple of physical therapy visits ...

Re: The Skyline Experiment
Was the 70 ft to 36 ft thing just buoyancy or was there an up current too? That was an awesome video, looks like a gorgeous place to dive, its going on my list. Now where is that thread about picking a good day.... Found it http://www.nwdiveclub.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=12142&start=0&hil...

Re: How many of you would participate in ongoing cleanups?
I'd be interested in helping. I also would say to the folks that said to leave the battery alone, that the thing is leaching hazardous waste into the environment for as long as it sits there. If there is a way that it has to be removed to prevent a disaster then I agree that is the way to do it. But...

Re: Water Visibility During Open Water Classes
I did two open water classes. One when I was 14, then later after a 30 year surface interval another, with my wife. They were like night and day. The first in 1971 we were at a motel that used to be in Hoodsport. It is the building just south of where Hoodsport n dive is now. There were eight of us ...

Do you know of any shore access? It looks like there should be good structure, I think we should organize an exploratory trip.

I don't have a level, but I am curious how you approach the setup of a lathe. Is it possible to put a twist in that heavy metal?

Let's all put our nickles together and get the couple a cert from one of the wonderful instructors on this board. Then maybe he will be excited to see buddies coming to his dive party.

Re: In what order do you purchase your own gear?
I'd agree with whats been said here, and add don't buy anything without checking it out with people who dive the way you see yourself in the future. It is difficult to see all the pros and cons of different types of BCs and Regs, lites etc. without knowing how exactly they are used. Try before you b...

match.com for fins
Penopolypants found her fin, so I still have a size large scubapro jet here all alone. How many other folks out there have a fin in the same predicament? Maybe we can find some companions for them here, who knows?

Re: So, how cold is it... really?
I saw Cindy (Girdiver) at cove 2 today, and she was diving in a semi-dry suit- a wet suit designed to limit the amount of water moving in and out of it. she said she dives all summer in that, and prefers it, then switches to a drysuit in winter. I also have a semi dry suit and I really liked it in t...

1. Sell some rifles and shotgun
2. Buy a lathe
3. Build a couple 21w lights for the missus and myself.
Thanks for the help.

Re: Help me with my light problem
Used 10w HID is too much? $250-ish No. Where can i get one? Look at the WTS or post a WTB on the deco stop. I suspect within a month you can find a used 10W canister light for <$2-300 depending on condition. OK I'm on the hunt. Thanks. If you find one feel free to post pics/description here for fee...

Re: Help me with my light problem
I would highly recomend the penertrator 220 from Piranah. I recently purchased two of these for use as backup lights. They are honestly nearly as bright as a 10 watt led light. They have a good solid hot spot for signaling, and a decent spill for lighting. They are also really nice and small. I put...

Re: Help me with my light problem
i bought this one recently and its pretty bright, the magnetic switch is actually mildly irritating (accidental turn ons). But its pretty darn bright and compact. The battery that comes with it is 2400 mah and im looking into buying the protected 3000 mah batteries for longer burn times. They say t...

Help me with my light problem
I lost my light the other day, and now I must replace it. While I ultimately want a can light, the money is not there at this time, so what I would like to do is purchase my future backup light. What I am thinking is: 1. Rechargable 2. Small enough to fit in a drysuit pocket. 3. LED 4. Decent hotspo...

Re: So, how cold is it... really?
At first I don't think you will have a problem with your wetsuit. Make sure it fits, and you will be comfortable on dives to 60 feet or so. The suit compresses the deeper you go and it can get chilly deeper than that. All summer you will be fine. Save your money though, cause in the winter you'll be...

Re: Orca attack on a gray whale in saratoga passage
Someone ought to give him a ticket for harassing the Orcas. Maybe they will. It would sure be a waste to kill a gray whale, and then miss dinner. For a boat full of a certain kind of nature lover, I'm wondering how it felt to see this in person. Its just tough for some folks to understand that the f...
