Re: Sitka 2016..

That was a great week of diving. I don't think we could have wished for better weather. We didn't make it to the hot springs, but we can save that for next year. The boys are out of school for spring break March, 11th through the 18th, So I need to start planning! I think we should dive the North si...

Hey Paul,

Sorry I missed this until now. But I'm glad I was able to hang out during your last visit to Sitka.

Anyway, good luck selling your gear, I'm certain you'll make some diver a very happy 'new' owner.

Cheers,

Jim

Re: DUI weight/trim / shot weight

Hey Paul, it's Jim! :) Congrats on the new member of the family, and hope you're enjoying the Oregon sunshine. Are serious about selling all that for $60? The lead is worth three times that, not to mention the heavy duty harness! Anyway, I'll bump the thread and hope someone needs a weight harness. ...

We've found a few of these WWII era Navy Medical bottle in the channel, but I was surprised to find this one off the beach at Totem Park.

Re: Sea star die-off

Did my annual volunteer dive at Sitka Natioanl Historic Park on May 19th and could not find a single Sunflower Star. I did find 1(one) Giant Pink Star and several leather stars.

Magic Island is also devoid of large Sunflower Seastars.

Ray Troll is very well known here in SE Alaska. He has a mural on the side of our cold storage. Another famous Sitka resident is John Straley, who in addition to being a writer/author is also an investigator for the public defenders office. Extended Range Diving from 1970

I always find these older instruction videos somewhat fascinating. Can you see people in today's diving world using a necklace for their light? And a 1,000 psi for the return on a deep dive? A lot has changed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NllBkX-lW5I&feature=youtu.be&list=PLISdfQavp3WII5j...

Happy Birthday Capt. Cousteau

I tried to revive an old thread for the Captain, but couldn't find one! Is that even possible? A search for Cousteau on NWdiveclub turns up empty? Well, today would have been his 104th birthday. Tonight, I will raise a glass to toast the man who created my sport, the tools of my vocation, brought a ...

Sorry, it's the only photo I have. I'll see if I can spot the critter again this weekend since I'll be down there changing some bow thruster blades.

Also, I found the wasting disease thread:

Herb,

I spoke to Grace's step dad, who was just in town and he was asking his son in Spokane about dive sites.

I'll e-mail you all the names and phone numbers. And BTW - Are you going to have wheels while you're there? The missile silos could be worth the 3 hr. drive.

What a great website, thank you Ms. James for posting this. I watched the entire San Juan/Highliner video and I cannot believe that great quality is coming from 16mm! I mean 16mm was great in the day, but I've seen very few films that were copied onto a DVD format that turned out that good. That's g...
