78 degrees in a 7mm, hood, and gloves? :angryfire: I'd die of heat exhaustion!!! :angryfire: I got hot chasing crabs in early August at Mukilteo in a 7mm with hood and ended up taking it off and unzippnig my suit! 78 degrees sounds great! How was the vis? How is it "like the Puget Sound?" ...

Ft. Lauderdale advice?

It's still a ways out, but I found out I'm going to Ft. Lauderdale early next year for work so I think Mrs. Sounder and I are going early to do some boat dives.

Has anyone done any diving off that coast? Recommendations for sites or charters? Thanks! :prayer:

NWDC is clearly not wasted time - it's a highly valuable resource while earning scuba units during "prolonged surface intervals"... because isn't that all work really is? \:D/

Unfortunately I imagine fills on a boat are probably "hot" and would shrink considerably when you hit the water. Lessons learned on bringing your own tanks - one of the best reasons to have so many people to add their 2psi! I'm still thinking that having a quick-check spg to see my tank ps...

We're all going to be rich!!! Is it just me or is that whole scuba radio really lame? IMO it sounds like "Schlempkee & Slappy" radio.

That's a good suggestion - I like that. I have 4 tanks, and they're all HP so I just want to be sure that I don't get 3000psi in my 3500psi tanks and lose bottom time - I'm new enough that I can use ALL the gas I can get (hoover).

Got Gas?

Ok, where do most people get their gas besides from your LMFR (Local Mexican Food Restaurant)? :smt119 Two questions: 1. Some places offer "punch-card" discounts on gas, some offer "unlimited Nitrox" for a flat fee/year, and other places are "pay at the pump." Besides i...

I'm glad you understand the concept of "scuba units" and totally understand about finding more/different gear that makes you reconsider an earlier thought/opinion. Welcome to an expensive but rewarding hobby!

I'm 110% POSITIVE Nailer could pull SOMETHING from the "Big Green Home Depot-esk Mobile Hardware Emporium" that could get those pieces off your fins in an instant. There's not much more a man needs that isn't in that van - a full set of tools, building materials, a place large enough to ta...

Yes, I remember reading them both now. The DAN article was about staying warm and the effects of hypothermia. The NW Dive News was a more comprehensive "about the diving" article. Both worth reading.

Found Fins...

I think I remember a month or two ago that someone lost a fin at Cove 2. #-o There was a fin found there and another fin found at Edmonds \:D/ - the post is here: http://www.northwestdiver.com/forums/fo ... y.php?f=45

Just FYI. :rr:

It was one of the most frustrating things I've done in a long time - I really wanted to manhandle it, but didn't want to damage the rubber. I was amazed what I could do with a hammer, a pry bar, and a large set of channel-lock pliers can do!

How funny - I just went through this with my jet fins! My removal of the old hardware involved a hammer, a pry-bar, a beer, several colorful phrases, and a bruised knuckle. :angryfire:

Once I got the old stuff off, the new straps went on like a dream!!! \:D/

That sucks. You'd figure that the man who was famous for handling croc's and "the most poisionous snake in the world" would have died doing something like that, but what a freak thing to have happened to him!
