Re: Bouyancy and Lead Weighting Fact Check

So here's a simple way to get properly weighted After a dive in your typical dive gear set-up,drain your tank to 500 PSI Descend to 10 feet and lay on the bottom. Make sure all of the air is out of your wing. Inflate your drysuit enough to tale the squeeze off but not so much that you have a bubble....

Nice Rig ratfishlvr ! If you want to get rid of the hose clamps on your lights these work really well for me: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Orbit-1-in-x-1-2-in-Plastic-Saddle-Tee-37121/100136430 You can find them at your local HD in the lawn sprinkler section. +1 On what Richard said - Pressure washing canvas will remove any water repellent and screw up the canvas fibers. Before you try to fire it up: - Take the distributor cap off and turn it over to see if the engine is free -Drain the oil to see if there is any water in it. If the oil is tan or there i...

Re: Free Fixer-Upper Dive Boat to Good Home

I love how upbeat and encouraging you guys are...whatever you do, don't give the guy any encouragement or hint at the fun he might have once it's going. That would just be too much. I didn't mean for my comments to sound discouraging, I'm just trying to put a bit of perspective on what it will take...

Re: Free Fixer-Upper Dive Boat to Good Home

It's got a nice Garelick four step dive ladder so that's a good start :) So here's my 2 cents ...... Go through the boat from end to end and write down everything you need to do to the boat to get it in the condition that it needs to be to be a safe reliable boat. Go on the internet and price out al...

Re: New Lights for GoPro Cameras on Kickstarter

These are neat little lights and $250 for a tray, two lights and arms seems like a pretty good deal. You'll want to pick up some additional segments of locLine, the arms look to be pretty short and you'll want to get the lights positioned further away from the camera. I'd be interested to see a revi...

I have one of these from Costco: http://www.costco.com/Ful-BlackGray-30%22-Hybrid-Sporty-Wheeled-Duffel-.product.100152635.html Dive gear in the bottom compartment, shorts and T-shirts on top. I'll buy all of yours for the scrap metal price of $3.50 :)

So I spoke with Jim, the resident tank guru at Fire King -He's heard of no issues getting the PST tanks hydroed.

I have the Orbtronic batteries mentioned above and they have provided 60+ minutes of burn time without any issues. Before a livaboard trip I picked up a set of these at Batteries Plus. I've had no issues with these either and they've provided 60+ minutes of burn time, the same as the Orbtronics. htt...

Re: Future of Mukilteo Diving

So if you look at the second option (Evolving Waterfront) they indicate a dive park at the very end of the waterfront near the Port of Everett Pier. They also have a marine protected area (on both options) that goes from the current ferry dock to about where the old fuel pier is. They designate the ...

Re: Future of Mukilteo Diving

I agree with Laura - It's better to work with people than taking your ball and going home. Realize that the dive community is a pretty small percentage of people in comparison to the general public and other interest groups. I think it's a positive thing that the planners are actually taking divers ...

Also, this will be our first warm water diving, so we'd be interested in general options about dive skins. 1) Unless you're Pamela Anderson you'll look horrible in one 2) If you do insist on wearing one, please wear your bathing suit underneath - Nobody wants to see your twig and berries Seriously,...

We took the bus from San Jose and it's not that bad - more like a shuttle in a mini van, not a city bus. The other option would be to rent a car. Costa Rica driving is a bit of an adventure but not overly difficult. If you do rent a car get something with high clearance, some of the dirt roads in th...
