Bill, do you know anybody who dives Lake Union?
As mentioned, diving in Lake Union requires a permit. The only folks that I know that are out there are Ben Griner with his Coastal Sensing & Survey group.

Re: BazillionQuestionsRegardingGearConfiguration

I have a set of PST 104s full of Trimix - Don't see those seeing much use from shore. Are you interested in tec or recreational diving? If you want to tec dive in the PNW, keep the 104's. I have a set of PST 95s currently set up as doubles but I am about to dismantle them to use them in Sidemount c...

Jake - Like you I dove a Neo-Z for 10 years. I've actually had three of them- as friends were getting out of diving I picked up theirs. Five years ago, on a key man/black Friday deal at 5th D, I bought a Santi Emotion.... I have a love-hate with my Santi Emotion. I love the fit, design, boots and ho...

Re: God's Pocket keeping deposits for COVID cancelled trips

Unfair and bitter criticism. Almost ALL dive ops world wide are handling things this way. As someone with four canceled trips so far, I can attest to that. If we want to keep any of these operations active for the future we should be more accommodating and support them. Plus one++ for what Dave is ...

Re: In water recompression

Agency has nothing to do with your question - DAN is the resource to ask for anything health related in diving. IMHO.... It's a bad idea to "drag" your buddy back down after they've corked to the surface. I'd go as far to say it's a bad idea to "drag" your buddy anywhere unless t...

Re: Possession Point - Tech Dive?

Interestingly the bathymetry shows the bottom continuing well past 200 to 300 feet in general, really quite shockingly deep. I am not qualified or interested to venture quite that far down, but I could imagine a tech-equipped dive being appropriate for anything involving much time below 30 metres, ...

Re: Possession Point - Tech Dive?

I've dove the fingers many times and it's a great dive. I've done it as a light tech dive (32% and O2 deco) but the wall mostly bottoms out at 110 ft so save your HE for another site. The current can rip but once you drop off the shelf and onto the wall it mostly peters out and is a relaxing dive. I...

The best place for Rat Fish is under the Boeing pier in Mukilteo. They come up from the depths to eat the muscles on the pilings and your almost guaranteed to see a ton of them on every dive. Dogfish are all over the Puget Sound but are skiddish and relatively rare to see on a dive. The only dive th...

Re: Dive Insurance ....

Regardless of what happens with DAN insurance, I would suggest that you keep your DAN membership. The membership provides for $100k of evacuation (not repatriation) insurance as well the DAN hotline. So basically the evacuation insurance will get you from the divesite to the nearest hospital or cham...

They "temporarily" do not have coverage for within the United States.
Dive Assure has never been authorized in Washington State. I look into them every year when my DAN insurance renews and it's never been available in Washington.

Bump. You know years ago when I was an avid diver an al 40 for 100.00 bucks would have been sold in an hour. Do people not use a back up air source? Do people still dive backplate and wing? 100.00 new price Although the shops seems to be pumping out new C-card holders, people that actually get out ...

Re: Truth Aquatics Conception Boat Fire Tragedy

Speaking of lithium battery chargers: I've been reading up on this and found that Drones use a particularly volatile battery type called Lithium Polymer. This is different from the Lithium Ion batteries we find in Lights and Cameras. It seems that they are so volatile that there are Dozens of produ...

I was mostly looking for a place with a camo wetsuit, XL open cell 5mm, that I could try on before I buy. Northwest Shore Dives is the bible for Puget Sound Diving. It's out of print but you can pick up a used copy on Amazon. Day Island Wall is probably the best shore dive in the Puget Sound but I'd suggest that you go with someone that knows how to dive it until you learn how to bracket slack. It's a r...

Agreed that the travel from the PNW is unacceptable in many ways. Egypt...... still not faster or cheaper travel though! The liveaboards are dirt cheap. My wife and I love Roatan - We've done CocoView three times and Anthony Key once. We used to be able to get flights there through Houston or Miami for around $500. Now-a-days the flights to RTB from the PNW have gotten to be too convoluted and too expensive to make it worth our while. For the price ...

I still remember Bea's awesome food from the between-dive sugar shack on the Nanaimo dock - the best surface interval ever!
