Re: Deep diving PADI certification in Seattle?

Update: someone contacted me thru this site offering a private class and certification. This worked beautifully! My stepdaughter completed her deep diving training yesterday, she came home very tired but happy. Now we can go some places together! :highfive:

Sund Rock 8/11 at 10am - at least 15ft! At 60ft still had no use for flashlight. Billions of tiny shrimp-like creatures were the only thing that clouded the waters but only in a certain location.

Re: Diving Saltwater State Park 8/10 or 8/11

Updated: Anybody interested in doing Saltwater State Park during this weekend - anytime? I would like to take a closer look at the artificial reef and its marine wildlife preferences. Thing is that just recently I got in touch with WSA who will be building similar feature at Redondo and hope to crea...

Saltwater State Park 8/10 or 8/11

All right, now that my back is healed and ready to be abused again - is anyone going to dive somewhere this Saturday-Sunday? I still have not got a chance to get wet since last year but all my gear is checked and ready. I can gladly make it to Redondo, EUP or anything similar, could maybe drive furt...

Re: Getting back into the water, in July?

Limited to evenings/weekends only or do you dive weekdays too? (when parking is easier) I'm flexible but love slow, shallowish (<80ft) dives where I can look for, survey, and/or photograph the critters. I live in South Bellevue - you by chance a eastside resident? (saw something about Bellevue/Redm...

Re: Deep diving PADI certification in Seattle?

All right! Sounds like I am going to tell her parents that they may want to reconsider, not easy but worth a try :) She certified locally and had quite extensive training (better than I had in my OW class, also here but at a different shop), I am pretty confident about her ability to handle confusin...

Re: Deep diving PADI certification in Seattle?

If you are willing to use a NAUI shop instead of PADI, I would talk to Andrea at 8 Diving in Des Moines. Their training is very reasonably priced and their instructors are excellent, going beyond the required materials to really emphasize safe and fun diving in our cold waters. Thank you Doug! Thos...

Deep diving PADI certification in Seattle?

Hi everyone! My teenage stepdaughter has OW from PADI. She is an awesome buddy, but we have to stay above 60ft :) Now that she is old enough to obtain a Deep Diver certification I am looking for some place around here that provides good training for a reasonable price (duh) I am going to see about t...

Getting back into the water, in July?

Hi All! Life happened, and I did not get to go diving since August last year when I went on a boat trip with Truth Aquatics. Anyway, I am not done with diving in any ways, had my regulators serviced and would really like to get back into the water. Looking for a dive buddy to do a dive or two - recr...

Re: Local flight with a scuba tank - is it doable?

So, I have suddenly remembered that I was going to post an update after my trip to the Southern Channel Islands with Truth Aquatics. To summarize, 1) it was awesome, 2) I need a larger tank next time, 3) I should rather not rent a tank at their rental facility on the peer, 4) loved the boat, the cre...

Re: ThThTh 8/2 Declaration of Independence Signing Edition

I cannot be at tonight's dive, just have something to ask those who go - and happen to be on the Eastside i.e. roughly Redmond/Bellevue/Kirkland area. I am looking to return a scuba mask to someone who will be on this dive. Maybe we can meet around 4-4:30pm so you can return it to her? Please PM me ...

Re: Local flight with a scuba tank - is it doable?

I would use the lp85s provided. One thing not mentioned is that the boats down there frequently give really wet fills. So plan on needing to have your cylinders tumbled when you return, they are likely to have rust in them. THANK YOU! I was on the edge but now I will just rent. It was already too m...

Re: Local flight with a scuba tank - is it doable?

It seems to me that we found some Lp95 tanks at the shop right there when we were there last summer. But the good news is, all the dives are pretty shallow, as in 30-50'. So if you had to, you could use the AL80's. Are you flying into SB, or Lax? If Lax, you might find a shop on your way. In my exp...

Local flight with a scuba tank - is it doable?

So... I am doing 4 days liveaboard trip with Truth Aquatics to the Channel Islands soon. I took a shorter intro trip with them last fall and loved everything - but the tanks! There is a scuba rental shop right on the shore where everyone orders their equipment, and that place only has AL80 and steel...

The babysitter isn't up to an early rise, so we can do the second option. We should be able to get to Alki at 8am unless something is weong with traffic, and then one of us will be ready to splash soon.

Re: Early Sunday Dive....HOT HOT NOT?

Possible, just need to ask both my spouse and a babysitter and see - if we leave 8am sharp we can be at Alki around 9am. Let me see whqt they both think! Alternatively, if you would like to do two dives :) let me know - then each of us can take turns being your buddy while the orher one is kid-watch...
