Edmonds Underwater Park parking lot closed
Underwater seems safe for social distancing so we headed to Edmonds for any easy dive. We were surprised by the parking lot being closed. However, plenty of people were still walking along the beach, mostly maintaining the recommended 6ft distance between groups. We had to park on the street and sch...

Re: Hoodies on the Hood
Those hooded nudies are still partying amongst the eel grass! I went Sunday-and even though it was low tide-hundreds of 'em were still hanging about. from the surface, we could even see a couple free swimming. Visibility was excellent. My ancient GoPro 3 couldn't take the cold water and died, but I ...

Re: Regulator service
Thanks for the advice! My regs are all shiny and ready to go this weekend! *gulp* in the price of service but I’d rather be safe because it’s the equipment that keeps me alive.... it was easy to ship out and fast turnaround time. I appreciated his explanations and seeing the testing paperwork.

Regulator service
I have about 100 dives over the past 3 years on my atomics regulator. It’s working well still but should I get it serviced regardless? Recommendations for local shops who provide this service? I did buy it from local dive shop so my default is to take it to the same place.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Good reminder! Early days I was always super careful but then felt like I was being over cautious and stopped consistently having the reg in during entry. Will restart!

Keystone Jetty this Saturday 24th?
Slack before ebb looks like 12:45pm ish? Slack before flood too early for me! But it looks like it is favorable for getting 2 dives in that afternoon. Would others agree? And anyone else interested?

Doug and I are coming! Will have hummus and pita chips.
it's been awhile since I've been in the water. We may also have a recent transplant from SoCal with us interested in PNW diving.

Keystone Sunday the 28th?
Just double checking with folks who are more familiar with Keystone- is Sunday AM a good time to dive that site? It looks like minimal current between slacks of 9:30 to 12:30?

Will email Jeff C at the Aquarium to ask if they have analyzed their data already and if it can be shared with recreational divers to increase our likelihood of a Six gill sighting.

Re: diving in current
Cool video of the Puget Sound model! And thank you all for the excellent advice! I suspect my kit is still not balanced perfectly-I've been doing fine thus far but perhaps a slightly more challenging situation highlighted the imbalance. And I also suspect that my body did become a sail, so I'll try ...

Re: Sixgill sightings: database?
howdy, I emailed Scott Lundy and he's no longer maintaining his Six Gill Database. (understandable since he's a busy surgical resident.) I'm still interested in trying to understand their behavior, so I'd like to start a database myself. First, is there anyone with programming experience on this sit...

Re: diving in current
thanks, Gdog. I will try to mimic a crab during my ascent next time I'm in strong current. what I couldn't figure out was how to recover myself once I started tumbling around since there was no structure for me to hang onto. I felt like I was doing this! https://youtu.be/D_husJsplNA (I had gone to T...

diving in current
Hello, I was at Three Tree North yesterday and got caught in highly undesirable current during flood tide. at 60-80ft, the current was minimal but as we ascended to ~30ft, all of a sudden I got caught in current where I ended up getting rolled around. No matter what I did, I couldn't stay prone. I t...

Sixgill sightings: database?
Hello, Just wondering if anyone has tried to understand the behavior of these elusive creatures. I know the Seattle Aquarium published a paper based on their research a few years back on their biting/tear behavior using bait station data. What I would like to know is if there is a pattern to the sig...

Re: Maui
Last night on Maui and had to share my dive report from my week! 5 dives total: 2 boat dives with Extended Horizons to Lana’i and 3 shore dives. Boat dives: I chose Extended Horizons because their boat is smaller and carries fewer divers. (I don’t like being crowded.) because of winds and swells, ra...

Late joinee! I will bring nuts and cups. Will need a buddy too since my usual one is sick,
Rosa
Argh,
Got on freeway and realized no dive hood. We just moved houses so I spent 20 minutes tearing apart boxes and bags but still no hoodie. Alas, I will miss out.

Re: Dry glove system with O rings
I love having dry hands!!!! Gdog was right- it's a definite improvement in my diving comfort having dry gloves. Additionally, I've regained dexterity in my fingers so I can actually don/doff equipment independently. (Before I always struggled with getting my own gloves/ fins on.) Kubi was pricey but...

Keystone Jetty August 27
Howdy, A little help please! I'd like to dive Keystone Jetty and based on the current table downloaded from NOAA and the corrections from Fischnaller's book, it looks like slack current at Keystone should occur: Slack before ebb: 10:07am Slack before flood 4:17pm Did I figure this out correctly? And...
