Big Island May 2022
During my first trip to Hawaii in 2018 Pele decided to pay a visit to the Puna District while we were in Hilo, and when I visited Kilauea the ground shook hard enough to close the Jaggar Museum permanently right after I walked out of the gift shop... (very true story!). After a couple months of acti...

Re: New camera, new pbotos
Pretty nice! Are you doing anything special to get decent depth-of-field? I have an A6000 and with the 16-50mm kit lens, I found the DOF with a +10 diopter just paper-thin, so I moved to cramming in the 30mm Sony Macro lens (which sorta, kinda, barely fits in the Meikon case, but sometimes acts up ...

New camera, new pbotos
There hasn't been as much action on here lately, probably due to the ease of the facebook groups and that other website.... but here are some photos I have taken the last few months with my new (to me) camera. I bought a used Sony A6300 with nauticam housing off of a cameraman for the show 60 Minute...

Re: Belize Resort Recommendations Please
Belize is a great spot! The best diving is in the atolls away from the mainland. Unfortunately shore diving is not a thing that (as far as I am aware) any resorts offer. I've been on Glovers Atoll where Off the Wall Dive is located. Its remote and the walls are spectacular. There is snorkeling insid...

Re: Campbell River and Dodd's Narrows April 2022
Better late than never? Here are a few of my snaps that I finally got around to dealing with. I had some equipment issues the whole trip..... and ended up taking most of my photos with my trusty single video light. The diving was still great, with the underwater highlight being 85 minutes of zero cu...

Awesome photos Jess!!! Thanks for "hijacking" the thread. Tell Erik he's welcome to do the same. Did the Enterprise fire at the Skeleton Shrimp to break up the party or was it just observing?

Fall quarter diving wrap up
It's been a little quiet in here lately, so here are some photos I took from this past fall in the sound. T-Dock was fun right at the very end of summer. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51776680501_f6601ddb86_z.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51776940953_598f46bf84_z.jpg https://live.sta...

Re: Miami/Key Largo in December
Hey everybody. Looking for recommendations for dive operators in the Miami/Key Largo area for this December. Staying in Miami, so more north end is better, but will likely make a trip or two down to Kay Largo to check out things down there. In Key Largo my favorite operation is Quiescense Diving, b...

Re: Campbell River ththth Invasion!
I finally got through a folder of pictures from the first day, and since Jess is impatient I guess I can post a few :neener: The first dive at Seymour Narrows was pretty awesome. My TG-6 prefers macro but my brain was overwhelmed by the colors and wide angle possibilities so I had a really hard time...

Re: August at Skyline
Looking good! The colors really pop. Are you using a custom white balance or auto? I shoot in RAW with auto white balance and then correct in Lightroom. The strobe definitely helps with lighting and colors. I used to bump the saturation up a little when shooting fixed lights but now i actually have...

Awesome shots Jess!!!! Love all of them. That was such a fun time.
Erik, that 2nd shot is $$$$. Maybe next time you’ll get more keepers if you don’t try to shoot wide angle in a steep island tube worm poop storm

Re: Canada to open border to fully vaccinated U.S. citizens on Aug. 9!!!
I had one of the easiest entries ever back into the states with my Nexus card. 3 questions and 45 seconds total. Heading up was a bit longer since NEXUS was closed. They were being very thorough and chatty, taking almost 5 minutes with every car going through. I didn't have a print off of my negativ...

August at Skyline
After a few years of shooting with a video light, I FINALLY got a strobe (and ikelite ttl convertor) for my little TG6. I took it out to Skyline a couple weeks ago to test it out. I definitely need some work on strobe placement but the initial results are encouraging. https://live.staticflickr.com/6...

Re: 7/25 diver missing in Deception Pass
If this is true I hope there was a happy ending. Today was not a day to be attempting a dive in there. I did see on the socials that a friend had a bit better SAC rate than anticipated at the Mulkiteo T Dock and since he dove his tank the authorities were called about the missing diver before he sur...

2021 diving has been good so far
Hopefully everyone has been having great dives so far this year. I haven't been as wet as I normally am due to some life changes, a Mt Baker seasons pass and a new mountain bike, but I've been trying to make it count when I get to the beach. Besides the usual diving I do around Whidbey and Fidalgo I...
