Re: Mike's Beach?
Yeah deep basins, camper crowds and shallow jellies, sounds fun
Tongue Point was excellent, would repeat.
Heard there were crowds and a fire at Lake Crescent recently.
Anything of interest below 30-40ft at Sekiu shores?

Mike's Beach?
Is anyone here a Mike's Beach Resort patron? I tried calling them a couple times... any point in trying to just show up or book on short notice in the summer? (E.g. van/tent camper?)

Re: Jellyfish Stings and Weirdness
Could you ID the suspects?
What else supposedly deactivates stings? Heat? Sauna/jacuzzi? Or would that just increase inflammation? Stay hydrated!
Is it like stinging nettles (the land kind)? Or worse?
If it's anything like sunburn then a light dose of vitamin I[buprofen] helps(?)

Re: Seal Rock Campground diving?
The profile looks compelling... surely something interesting lives there, as "everything is everywhere, but the environment selects..." (spoken in Academia like a prayer )
I'd be keen to check it out too, if you're fishing for crew! In Coupeville though (ferries permitting...)

So in for that! I can find plenty to do in the 80 to 130' range to rack up deco, especially if it's a wreck/habitat.

Re: Mukilteo slow dive
Viz and serenity improved greatly at depth there... apart from the gawdawful roar of our beloved traffic beast overhead! I followed a line out to what would've been the troll I think--as per The Map--though I don't remember seeing anything as terrifying. Perhaps I missed it. I went to 150' briefly b...

Re: What Shearwater to buy?
From the pictures I can't tell how to rig up a Teric with bungee shock cord, which is a common convenience mod for drysuit diving. The Perdix has bigger dimensions, so perhaps easier to read quickly or in non-ideal situations. The user-replaceable AA battery seems nice on the Perdix, if you are the ...

The Teric looks like a great new design/features built around the proven base system. Please let us know how cool it is once you get so that we can have envy!

A mention (or plug?) for the open source dive analysis and planning application, Subsurface. https://subsurface-divelog.org/ Due to significant recent work by highly capable software/diving enthusiasts, features now include the ability to download logs from dive computers (e.g. my Shearwater), detai...

Re: probably a dumb question...
Sounds like a good deal to me. A small price to pay for certified safety...and not having old cylinders condemned after 10 seconds of visual "inspection" just because they're old (we've seen it happen in other places--confirmed by second and third opinions by other professionals)

Re: probably a dumb question...
In certain tropical areas, you definitely want to go straight to the correct hydro tester themselves, if you can even find one.
But from what I can tell, the PNW local dive shop environment is highly professional, attentive and scrupulous.

Re: In water recompression
Plan A you meet them at the surface, stay there, monitor for signs and symptoms, get them out of the water. From no-stop rec dive at 40 feet, they are unlikely to have major DCS. If they do end up injured, you did the correct and prescribed thing by getting them out of the water quickly and seeking ...

Mukilteo slow dive
Inspired by various comments and people's cool Facekook posts, I checked out Mukilteo on the evening high tide. Kudos to the humans for adding some well utilized habitat and making it creepy. The deep line makes a fine tec-rec dive. I would find it a bit too hasty and sketch on a rec only rig, thoug...

Re: In water recompression
It's also possible to get plain old motion sickness while diving, especially at shallow depths in poor visibility. I've had it happen twice, as in very rarely, but very connected to physical/visual disorientation, directly after perfectly normal and safe ascents etc. Dive buddies aren't doctors. A p...

Re: Possession Point - Tech Dive?
Thanks for the info. I was just [more than?] curious based on how interesting the bathymetry looks. But if it's all sandy then yeah I could imagine something with more structure. Sares, does its slack (before ebb, I presume) coincide with NOAA Rosario? Northwest Island was pretty interesting, I stil...

I mean, probably? But I am not an expert. It's no Pass Narrows, but there is cool stuff to encounter and the tide I got seemed pretty benign (14:30 to 16:30, 15th of July)

Re: DPV dives / "Northwest Island" ?
The bottom ~10m contour scoot was no problem, apart from the occasional grass dodge. A surface scoot/snorkel could facilitate a precise drop and gas savings, but more at the mercy of weather, currents and errant speedboat traffic. The part of the wall I saw was quite large and as deep as anyone want...

Re: DPV dives / "Northwest Island" ?
I got around to checking this out today. Calm seas and the still fog burned off right around the perfect time for a weak flood. Visibility bordering on terrible (6-8 ft?) for the scooter out WNW along the 10 metre contour, with areas of fully terrible (1-2 foot) during certain plumes of eddy current...
