Re: In Memoriam: Lynne Flaherty (LCF, TSandM)

Lyne was one of the first divers who reached out to me when I was hot mess of a new diver. The more I warned her what a mess I was, the more she insisted that we dive. It wasn't out of duty, or concern, or pity, but out of a sheer joy of diving with new divers and showing them a world that she knew ...

I am planning on coming for both dives. My dive light is charging and I am so antsy it is ridiculous. I need a buddy, but I don't bite.

Re: Help finding a house?

Kate! You're coming back! Is there any possibility we might be able to go diving again? And maybe not lose the current line this time? Lynne, on the top of my to-do list when I get back to Washington is to go diving with you without losing the current line OR bursting my ear drum. We should be on t...

Help finding a house?

Hi. So, the Army has answered my repeated pleas and is finally sending us back to Washington. It will be almost four years to the day since I was left Steilacoom, kicking and screaming, for the wasteland of central Louisiana. Since then, we have lived in Louisiana (think True Blood, but more redneck...

Re: Team diving in the Florida Panhandle

NW Dive Club magic strikes again. Turns out all I needed was Sounder (I can't believe I just said that) and Facebook to make it happen. The gear gets dropped off tomorrow and will hopefully be back in the water in just a few weeks. Now I am off to the garage to fondle dive gear.

No cavern, but once I get comfortable again I hear that Marianna is only an hour or so down the road and the temptation may be too much to resist.

Team diving in the Florida Panhandle

Well, after almost three years of producing (very cute) children, I am dusting off the dive gear and getting back in the water. Being risk averse with two small people at home, I can't imagine doing so without getting a good dive refresher. Does anyone have any recommendations on instructors in the ...

Re: How addicted are you to NWDC ?

I live in the mountains a solid 9 hours from the nearest dive site. I haven't been diving in a year and a half. I spend most of my time cleaning up toys, wiping up drool, or using the googles to find out how to get an infant to sleep through the night. Yet, I can tell you what dives people are doing...

Congrats Eric! What a lucky baby Max is! Don't let Doug scare you. Mornings aren't that bad. I got a big kiss from a little person that smells like pancakes, I used my superhuman parent power to fix a bumped noggin, and I am the funniest person ever and receive applause whenever I enter a room. Pret...

Congrats Lynne. The PNW just got a whole lot luckier with the addition of you to its already rich pool of dive professionals.

Peter, let me get this straight. You need a letter from a doctor, that Lynne (an emergency room doctor) can perform CPR and first aid? I really do hate bureaucracy.

Don't poke at things. Most things bite when you poke at them. Also, the prettiest things normally sting or bite the worst.

I live in Louisiana. The entire state is currently a rabid madhouse of fleur-de-lis and Who Dat? signs. Plus people are drinking like it is Mardi Gras already and I can't even have a beer.
Enough said.
Go Colts!

Re: Can I play?

Welcome to NWDC. You aren't going to find a better place to connect with PNW divers. There are some fantastic people around here that like diving with newer divers. These are folks who dive enough (and remember being new divers well enough) not to care if a dive is only 15 minutes. Remember to be sa...

Scott, Congrats on sticking with quitting. :highfive: It sucks, badly. Did you use the patch or gum or any other aids? If so, how was your experience. Looking back, it seemed like it was about two years after I quit smoking before I felt like my lung function was back to normal. It pissed me off - I...

Re: How many dives did you do in 2009?

I managed a measly 16 dives last year. No dives in January, as I was healing from a burst eardrum. Then life just kept getting in the way. My last dive was in June, when I did my first (shameful, absolutely shameful) doubles dive with Casey. After sitting around with Lizard, Bob, Spattie, and the re...

I just "ooohhheed" over a shark. I had just gotten used to "aaahing" over sea slugs, and then Bob makes me "ooh" over sharks.
It's amazing what kinds of beauty you can find in the Sound.
Thanks Bob.

Re: Not dive related at all: Found a cat yesterday

Crazy cat lady math is easy. For each cat over two, the crazy factor increases by 50%. Thus, with 2 cats, PPants is perfectly normal. With three cats, she would be 50% crazier than your average person. That being said, she lives in Seattle, so the crazy factor is skewed in her favor. Plus she hangs ...

Please continue - I keep learning as I read and I am loving it. I would like to spend less than $300. Portability is key, as we move (a lot) and do a lot of camping, so it would be nice if we could take it with us. As for tinkering - if you ever see my husband with a tool kit in hand, please tackle ...
