Re: LDS Customer Service

What I got out of this thread is TLSea seems like a really cool dive center. Sometime when I am in the area (I live in Portland) I will have to stop by and check it out. I don't think I will be checking out any UWS stores.... See what happens when when you don't treat a customer right. Word travels ...

Re: Another new Saltwater SP dive site map!

The park rangers need some help getting better buoy attached and a boat to enforce the no fishing zone. We had some boats buzzing/fishing inside the park last week and the "good" reef end markers were gone. They mentioned they needed someone to donate a boat so they could enforce the park ...

Re: SSI vs. PADI

Nicolle is awesome! I took rescue diver with her and learned a lot (and a lot of little twists in the class :) ) All the instructors at 7 Seas really try hard to communicate a lot of information I have been happy with all my classes with them. but like others have said regardless of agency the class...

Celebrities seem to always die in 3's and we didn't have to wait around this time for the group.

Re: Dry Suit Class

Thanks Pinkpadigal!

I have become interested in what I have read about Whites Fusion Drysuit - It sounds very interesting and if its as good as what I have read I think I am sold on it. Getting a chance to rent one and take a class at the same time would be A++

You will hear from me in July :)

Re: Dry Suit Class

I think 7C got out of the Drysuit rental business (they are my go-to LDS) but perhaps I will make the rounds to the others.
I just thought perhaps some of the shops up in the Sound would have much better availability of classes and suits to choose from.

Re: Dry Suit Class

I am way south (Portland) so I envision staying up near the dive area -- perhaps even a private class to compress the time delay between the classroom and the dives. I would just like to dive a rental dry suit to gain some experience before looking around to purchase one.

Dry Suit Class

Is there a shop around the area where I can take a drysuit class and also rent a dry suit for the class?

Bodyglove Drysuit

Has anyone seen someone or know someone who uses the BodyGlove Drysuit? http://www.bodyglove.com/products_detail.php?product_id=20889 Sure seems hard to find any reviews of it online. I did find a review in a big Scuba magazine and they said it was a good suit. Thru a family connection I possibly ca...

Re: Bare Nex Gen Pro drysuit? Any good

Thanks for the info!
I am glad divers around here are using it -- it makes me comfortable considering that drysuit.

NW Dive club rocks!

Edit ... LSD in my first post ... If I dive on LSD that could explain a lot :)

Bare Nex Gen Pro drysuit? Any good

While looking around for a used drysuit I came across one that is interesting.
A Bare Nex Gen Pro drysuit -- Does anyone dive this suit here in the pacific Northwest?
My LSD and most dive buddies have the other trilam model.

Yes I will get some training before diving in :)

Good report and nice pictures!
I look forward to going farther up the hill and checking out Yale and Swift lake.

Any idea how it compares to battleground lake? I have never been there.

We were diving at point Whitney ---- Amazing viz and so warm! I must have saw a good 10-15 Lion Manes and of course one of the sneaky Jellies floated over and touched me. These jellies looked MASSIVE! but I am a noobie so maybe they were the standard size :) I think the "scrape it off method&qu...

Re: Oregon Coast Dive Report

Hey Gooch!
I am also hoping 7Cs puts together the Oregon coast trip and plan to cling on to it if possible.
I don't know how much travel time it would cut off for us compared to the sound/hood canal -- but diving options are always good to know :)

I am an early riser but I will have to miss the exploration dive :(
Up at hood canal on the 13th and not sure I can get my tanks filled in time for a dive on the 14th.

Please post up what you discover - I was talking to one of my regular buddies sometime about exploring up there sometime soon

Re: Lake Dives around Portland/Vancouver

I am terrible at vis estimation -- but I would guess 8 feet to even 12 feet before a silt out. Carefully buoyancy on a sunny day you should be able to float around and at least see like a bad day in the sound. To be honest with our class going on it sometimes was 1 inch of vis :) I have been thinkin...

Re: Lake Dives around Portland/Vancouver

I believe it gets deep but since it was a class we stayed pretty shallow and right by our dive flag. Just working on our rescue skills and falling for the tricks the instructors and dive masters set up to test us on :) You might need to go outside the bay area into the big part of Lake Merwin for so...

Lake Dives around Portland/Vancouver

What lakes nearish to Portland have people dove in or do dive in? I was just up at Merwin Lake for my rescue diver class (Yes I know thats in Washington but humor me) We went in at Speelyai Bay Rec Area. Visibility was pretty good in places and we actually saw some fish :) How warm the water was thi...

Re: sund rock 5.24.09 - a great day of diving

We made the trip up there Monday and our first dive on the south wall (once we got under the gunk layer) was pretty good. Vis was a lot better in places then I thought it would be. I think we got lucky and the diving gods gave us a break since we drove 2+ hours to get there :) Our second dive on the...

Bob! Have you dove at Ecola State Park? I would love to learn more about this. I found this PDF map of the park http://www.oregonstateparks.org/images/pdf/ecola_map.pdf Its been a couple decades since I moved away from the coast -- It did seem like the parking lot was a far away but on this map it d...

I am using the built in Oceanic Ocean Log program and it calculates the SAC Rate without me knowing anything :) When I get a chance I will input the same numbers into the link you posted and see what it says. Hopefully it comes out close to the same -- I do think my air consumption rate is getting m...
