Hmmm a diver who gave me a report there said she found some a bunch of smaller ledges and small shelves.
Perhaps you went too deep?

I was told down by the handicap parking is a good place to get into the water.
I've been waiting for the place to open to go check it out.

Re: glen Ayr - Hood Canal

The few times I have dove there the main attraction is -- Deep fast.
Not any structure but you can always just cruise around looking for some small critters.

One of my friends encountered a six gill shark there in an advanced open water class.

Re: Support your LDS

I am very lucky to work in a dive shop that has its own pool. Too bad we are a little too far for you guys I am sure the boss would make you a killer rental on it --- as long as our classes are not in it. Thunder Reef in Vancouver Washington. The only problem is our shop is super duper busy the last...

Re: Dive site mooring

Now it would never happen but it would be nice if a tiny part of the boat ramp fees the state collects could go towards maintaining the buoys. I would guess the boat ramp fees are there to cover boat facilities but since .01% of the boat ramp use is divers and 100% of the buoy use is by divers they ...

Re: Dive site mooring

Elephant Wall, Flagpole and Rosies in Hood Canal are all in pretty good shape. Wonder if a gofund me for bouy cleaning would generate enough to clean then up. I'd certainly join the crew in Hood Canal keeping the buoys clean. I wish we put in the little sliders on the ropes like they did up in Canad...

Re: Portland diver looking for a buddy!

Hey Brittany! Would that happen to be the Rescue class over at Thunder Reef or another shop in the PDX/Vancouver area? We have a number of female divers over at TRD who would love to meet up with you and go diving! I have one former female student who works weekends so if your open to weekday dives ...

Found a mask & snorkle at Octopus Hole (9/11)

I found a mask and snorkel at Octopus Hole on Wednesday 9/11.
Down on the beach it was a low tide. If you lost yours there recently and it matches this one you can get it back!

I promoted this to all the dive groups down in SW Washington (Vancouver and PDX) back when the project first got off the ground and was sadly disappointed by the response.

How deep did you get in Battle Ground Lake?
I sure noticed in my drysuit it got really cold below 30ft.

Almost thinking we need to do a trash pick up dive there -- So much laying around -- I picked up a fin and some sun glasses but left all the rest of the trash there.

Re: Local flight with a scuba tank - is it doable?

I didn't ship a tank but I shipped an "Action Packer" case once to San Diego with scuba gear in it. Worked fine and its almost impossible for UPS to destroy the action packer. It was about 100 bucks each way but he action packer held everything. BCD - Drysuit -- ect. I shipped it to a USP ...

I dove Sund Rock with 2 students yesterday (June 2nd) I met both Mark and Cindy Sund and they told be about the plans they have for the area. Its interesting and exciting. Making the free trail easier/safer would be pretty cool so I hope that gets done.

With a mass of divers swimming in front of their private beach maybe they will work hard to find away to open the parking lot :)

Hopefully the sund family should build a website and collect payments online or have a payment box at the site.
