Re: Introducing Myself

Welcome aboard! I'm interested in doing some 'low barrier' dives. I'm shaking the rust off and did my refresher a month-ish ago and have done a few dives since.

T-Dock/ Geodome

Huge thanks to JH for letting me tag along with him today at T-Dock/Geodome. Believe it or not, this is the first time I have seen the geodome! (Let the jabs begin... :penelope: ) Have dove this site before (years ago) but never saw this. I saw 2 wolf eels living in the dome itself and 2 others in t...

Re: 40cf bare al 02 bottle

I have BillZ sentiment as well, I'm interested, but have other "hidden fees" (aka children) that are cost prohibitive at the moment. My 6yo wants to dive and an AL40 would be an awesome "kid" bottle when he starts. My 8yo is considering the idea, but the best is my 12yo who says, "ugh... whatever. N...

Thanks guys! Good to know. Tomorrow I'm diving with a DM from Lighthouse in a "shop dive" but it looks like it's just he and I. T-Dock, meet at 1pm.

Ongoing Buddies desired

Hello all! You've seen me lurking, I'm "refreshed" (officially) and am making dive plans. I'm looking for regular or occasional buddies as circumstances/schedules/interests align. -What is your current level of experience (number of dives, certification level)? #dives- lost count, let's just start o...

Re: First Time Cold-Water Diver Checking In Here

Had some college buddies from Boston, good dudes. Only tropical reef we have around here is in the aquarium! However, we've got the best cold water reefs (IMO) to be found! Don't take my word for it. Cruise the pic posts of some very talented peeps on this forum.

Welcome to the Pacific North-Wet!

JBLM has the NW Adventure Center: https://jblm.armymwr.com/programs/scuba

There are a few dive shops down there too- Underwater Sport is PADI, Lighthouse is NAUI. Not been to Tacoma Scuba, so not sure what they have, I just know they are there.

cheers!

Re: First Time Cold-Water Diver Checking In Here

Welcome to the PNW. Where do you hail from? Having not gone dry, I will say that if you dive a lot (weekly, multiple consecutive days) a wetsuit isn't for everyone. Consider renting different suits w/ your drysuit course to determine the style that works for you, if you can.

I think I know where they were found! I do believe those were part of an episode shot in cooperation with a YouTube Personality from the Portland area, if I'm not mistaken? Columbia River, correct? Oldsalt- not hijacked! Great addition. Thanks for sharing the knowledge. I have always been curious to...

"Trashure" huntin'

Hey All! Per previous posts about cleaning up local waters, I have been building and developing this idea all summer and FINALLY had to just slay the dragon and get my first episode up, of many to come. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYL4de2ZoHQ I am open to anyone who's schedule lines up with mine...

Re: Clean up a dive site ?

I have certainly brought up some whopper crawdads! I had a pair in a gatorade bottle and had to cut the bottle open to release them, since they couldnt' back out the neck of the bottle. The beach kids LOVED those. Gave me opportunity to show the kids what else is in the lake. Bunch of kids ran up on...

Re: Clean up a dive site ?

I plan to do the same and have been thinking about organizing something, but haven't gotten up the moxy yet to make it public. When I take my kids to the lake, I snorkel around and pickup trash under water beyond the swim zone. Kids like to see what I bring up and claim the treasure! (frisbees, dive...
