Re: Victoria, BC Race Rocks Away Mission

Anyway, as mentioned, an octo came out to play, and just stuck with me for about an hour :) It didn't seem to have any intention of leaving either, when I had to leave due to air constraints. Dude, really great photos. The GPO photos are wonderful (I especially like that first one in the post below...

Re: Octopus Hole - Hood Canal

An alternate method of finding the wall is to head south along the shore (we did it via surface swim) to a snag on the point. From the snag, swim straight out from shore to find the north end of the wall -- maybe 30 yards.

Re: Octopus Hole?

Thanks guys! My son and I did Sund and Octopus Hole the weekend of Aug 17-18. Viz was pretty good -- we managed all our dives on flood. Saw 5 wolf eels at Sund north wall and three (one juvie) on south wall. Octopus hole was kind of a bust. We were in the 35-50 fsw range on the wall and saw pretty m...

Octopus Hole?

Not sure if this is the correct sub forum to ask. Planning on heading to Hoodsport for a 2 tank day trip. Considering doing Octupus Hole. I dove it a few weeks back and didn't see either wolf eels or octos (and I have a really good spotter). Seems that the wall is pretty smooth with few crannies for...

Re: Redondo 8/24 first time there

Advice from an old guy who has been there: Cherish every dive you have with your son. -Curt :rawlings: For sure. For his graduation we did a live aboard in the Red Sea then stopped in Cairo to see the pyramids. I was glad to be able to do some really cool things with him over the summer. So I manag...

Redondo 8/24 first time there

My son Fin drove off to college today -- headed for Indiana. We thought we would try one last time to see a GPO before he left so we did a Saturday day trip to Redondo Beach. It was the first time diving there for both of us. Drive up from Portland was easy and we were in the water shortly after 10a...

Re: Hello all!

Thanks! Forgot to add that I live in Portland. Looks like my son and I are going to squeeze in a day at Redondo Saturday before he leaves for college on Tuesday. I heard folks saw several GPOs there last Saturday and there have been other frequent sightings there this summer. Beautiful picture!!! I ...

Hello all!

I learned to dive in 2014 because my then 13 yo got junior PADI certified that summer when he was staying at my mom's in south Florida. Since then he and I dove a few times a year -- usually 3-5 dives at X-mas, maybe a couple during my son's spring break down in Florida. For my son's high school gra...
