I really like Owen Beach, but you have to enjoy looking at and for the small stuff. If you don't, you won't like this site. I've been there and seen 9 different kinds of starfish, 4 different kinds of nudibranchs (including a baby giant nudi), octopus, pygmy poachers, sturgeon poachers, grunt sculpi...

The problem has been going on for a month or two; it didn't at the beginning. Tonight, with a different password, I log on, again, with the "view new posts since last visit" I get "no posts" even tho there are many. Also, I log on, and if I choose to respond to a post I get the l...

Yep, I have the auto log-on checked. If I log out, when I log back in I can read the posts, but when I try to respond, I have to log in again, each time I try to reply to a post.

I've never been tipped for OW/AOL classes, but then my work schedule rarely allows my being able to follow thro with an entire class either (I work 12 hour evening/nights/alternate weekends). Not that I'd turn it down if it ever happened, but certainly that's not the reason I help out.

Just cleaned off my cookies etc. When I first started coming here I could use the "New since last visit" feature but not anymore. Today, when I log in and try to respond, I have to log in again before it will let me.

Okay, I still can't access the "New since last visit" section. If I log out, log in, stay logged in even if I close the window, it still happens. In order to read new posts I have to wade and sift thro all the different forum sections, scan the dates and look for posts. Time consuming to s...

I dive argon all the time and find it to be a profound difference from air in my suit. In winter I can last up to an hour, but I'm not wanting to get out of the water at 30 minutes like I am if diving air in my suit. Like the difference between standing in front of a window on a cool fall morning, a...

Ditto what Bob said. Also, if you are someone who tends to get narced in darkness, bring plenty of light with you. Drop slowly, get your bearings, have lots of light . Those wrecks can be challenging if the viz is crappy. Drop too fast and being narced at those depths is like swimming thro black jel...

I used to live in West Texas, and it's true, there is nothing there, but the Davis Mountains are very cool, and Balmorrhea is supposedly spectacular, with crystal clear visibility. Never made it there myself, but someone I worked with did scuba dive there and raved about it.

That is produced by our very own John Williams of Stillhope Productions. I actually had two videos on episode 2; it's a great venue for local photographers/videographers etc.

Typically viz is better during a high tide than low tide. A high tide has more water to dilute the "stuff" that is in it. It's rather like frozen orange juice that is reconstituted with only one can of water; will be more thick or cloudy than oj reconstituted with three cans of water. -Val...

Okay folks, I'm looking for some handouts. I'd like to get an old, used BCD to use as a teaching aid in my DAN classes. My budget for this is, well, limited, so I'm basically looking for a freebie (or nearly there). Something that is sitting in a closet somewhere, not being used, maybe collecting du...

Good topic by the way. I have two good buddy stories. The first happened last week, while diving in Roatan with Wyler Bear.
