Re: Cabo Diving

Cabo is surprisingly good given all the development. Rays, sea lions, and swirling tornadoes of yellow tails were just a few of the sights. If you get the opportunity, take the day trip to La Paz to snorkel with the whale sharks and dive at the islands. Highly recommended. Manta Diving, and others, ...

New Year's Dive at Point Whitney

A really great turnout, and fantastic weather (considering the forecast) at Point Whitney on 1/1. The dive and potluck was put together by Octopus Gardens Diving in Port Townsend. Water temp 45F, vis at depth 20-25 ft, with GPOs, flatfish, thousands of shrimp, and a sea lion cruising through. :pirat...

Re: New Years Day diving...

There are rumors that Octopus Gardens is planning New Year's Day dive(s) at Pt. Whitney. I have yet to confirm, but assuming it's 'on' and the weather isn't a hurricane, I'll be there.

Cleanup Dive in PT

We did a dive in Port Townsend today to remove derelict crabbing gear from the bay, all of it around the docks. My buddy and I pulled up 6 crab pots!

Re: Dive Insurance ....

Maybe try Dive Assure? I've enrolled with them before. It is primary insurance, not secondary like DAN, so more expensive but arguably better.

Is it Art? I don't care, I want it.

Sometimes I see things I don't need but highly covet, like a full-size chrome hammerhead shark. Seen yesterday in downtown San Francisco.

ScubaJet

Has anybody here tried one of these?

The article seems to conflate thrust with depth, but whatever.

Re: Fort Flagler

Did another gorgeous dive at Fort Flagler yesterday. Vis 25ft+, max depth 51 ft, 49F. This is my new favorite local dive site. It takes a bit of a swim to get out to the fish havens but it's worth it. Lots of stuff to explore, loads of fish, especially buffalo sculpin hiding everywhere. Slack, again...

Re: Neah Bay water temps.

We're used to the cold upwelling waters in Puget Sound. Sea Surface Temperature (SST) out in the ocean, however, can be much warmer and affect Neah Bay. Here's the latest chart from NOAA -- notice how the SSTs near the entrance to the Strait of Juan de Fuca are a toasty 15 C (59F) compared to 11C (5...

I'm trying to guess what made the hole.
Hammer and a screwdriver. Then a thin knife is inserted into the hole to cut loose the conch meat.

Then sauteed in a coconut breading... heaven!

I've been calling these cushion stars, but the closest match I can find are the Slime Stars. Is this one?

How was your dive Glenn & Cameron? Did the drysuit fit? Keystone was crazy beautiful!! Hope to dive with you guys soon! It was great! 3 GPOs and zillions of shrimp (are they looking at us? Re: Labor Day Weekend

60south, I'll be on the peninsula tomorrow, so if you don't mind a hang along, I'd love to dive with you. Also, if you bring the dry suit, maybe I could give it a test dive for any leaks? Sure thing! Confirmed we're 'go' for meeting at 11am, Pt Whitney. I drive a white Tacoma. Will bring the drysui...
