Confident the first one is a snailfish, but if anyone can ID it further than that, I'd appreciate it...
The next one might just be too young to ID, but I figured I'd ask...

Re: Whidbey Island Critters
I saw a handful of stars all wrapped up around what looked to be a dead rockfish the other day... perhaps they are all trying to grab the last few bites of some meal and none of them are willing to give up their hold on it?

Re: Thursday Night 3/23
I hit Cove 2 again yesterday and there was again plenty to see. I'd be ok with hitting it again - I agree the Redondo forecast looks less than ideal.

Re: Thursday night diving 3/2
Works for me - I did a dive at Cove 1 this afternoon around 4PM - we found two Stubbies but I'm not sure if we were deep enough or whether they were still hiding because it was still plenty bright. At the same time some other folks were diving Cove 2 and they said it was the most devoid of life they...

Another great Redondo dive. Not sure if that current right at the end was the river or not, but still a great dive with fantastic vis! Here are my lumpy shots from this and last week's dive - https://www.ktuli.com/photography/index.php/2023/02/03/more-lumpies/ https://www.ktuli.com/photography/wp-co...

Anyone potentially interested in an earlier second dive? I figure I should be able to be over to the Seattle side (coming from Port Orchard) by 2-230ish.

Re: Free Ikelite FL Dome and Extension
Definitely! I just got in town and have plans to head up to the San Juans for a while, and then who knows. I have no specific plans for how long I'll be in the area, but it will be at least until some time in January, so plenty of time to make sure I join you guys for a dive or three.

Free Ikelite FL Dome and Extension
A friend gave me an Ikelite 8" dome and 5510.28 FL extension in hopes that I could make use of it, but it would require me to make more of an investment into my current housing setup than I feel like doing at this time.... so instead of it sitting and collecting dust, if anyone can make use of ...

If you are looking for personalized training, check out Jade Scuba Adventures. Ashley and Jake are great instructors and will take their time to make sure you learn the material well - which is important with scuba.

Re: Need some ID help please
Nah - not back yet. I'm actually on my way back to Florida next month to get some diving in there again. The dive club I joined last time I was there asked if I would give a quick talk about my experience diving in the PNW at their June club meeting and I am just trying to get IDs for the photos I'l...

I think I'm out too. I called Lighthouse Dive Center and it sounds like they might let me swap out my drysuit for a larger size that might be a bit more comfortable, so I am going to run up to Lynnwood and talk with them tonight. Might also see if I can find a place to go get my vax booster.

Re: ThThTh 11/18
Is it even going to be diveable tonight at that time? Looking at the tide chart, it looks like we'll be in the middle of a 11+ foot exchange. Tonight is a full moon plus lunar eclipse... I'm just trying to learn the dive planning aspect for this area.

Re: Redondo (South)
It is amazing what some in-water eye training can do for helping you to spot things in the future. You can look at photos all day long and still look right past a critter in the water, but somehow once you see it in the water, your brain decides that it can find more in the future. Hope that is the ...

Re: ThThTh 11/11
Bryan is an awesome guy! My first dive with him he told me about lumpies and said he has never seen any and I've since managed to find 3. I told him I might have to make it a personal goal to find one for him on a dive. My current goal is to find a stubby squid. Anyone really good at spotting them?
