Re: Open Letter From Cindy Sund Regarding Sund Rock Changes
Fun Facts about Sund Rock: The MCA status of Sund Rock was conceived and brought about by two groups, the Olympia Kelp Krawlers and the Hood Canal Aquanuts. The proposal for the Sund Rock MCA (marine conservation area) was presented to the WDFW Commission along with Octopus Hole and Flag Pole Rock(f...

Re: Sund Rock changes
Agreed, the public access is not appropriate for open water training. At one point, a ban on open water classes was being considered at the pay access, due to damage caused to the environment in a Marine Conservation Area . Divers in open water training should not be expected to have the buoyancy sk...

Re: Sund Rock changes
The DNR owned public access is still available. It is 2.4 miles from Hoodpsort with plenty of parking. The trail is a bit of a hike to a very nice beach and a swim to the south end of the wall. The south end is not dove as much due to its distance from the pay site. The south end is where the cloud ...

Re: Red Brotula: sund rock
I saw a Red Brotula at Sund Rock today, at about 60fsw on the north wall. It was way back in a boulder 'den' like area. I have some (slight) video of it, will get it posted soon. First for me. I've heard of them, but never seen any. :supz: MZ Middle of fish pen wall, excellent chance to see a coupl...

Re: Diving Concepts replacement gloves
I also use the Diving Concepts ring system, and I get the orange gloves, unlined, at Seattle Marine for about $4 per pair, and buy the green woolie glove liners at a local Army/Navy surplus store for about $4 per pair. I find getting the unlined gloves with separate liners to be preferable as it's ...

Yes, there is an event, and you can track it here.
Fortunately, there are still depths that are ok.

Re: Staying Warm!!!
if the waterproof hood (the brand waterproof) 5/10 fits your noggin it is amazing. Middle of winter my head comes out steaming and it has a nice neck flap for tucking in that stays in as opposed to popping up into 'cone of shame' mode. I buy the in bulk (well, at least I always have a spare on the ...

Re: Tried Kayak diving? Got any tips?
1 beach them whenever possible
2 tie them off to a secure structure on the bottom, (or the surface) treat the dive as an unsupported boat dive
3 anchor like you would any boat, we preferred danforth style and always set by hand, same dive as number 2
4 towing is awful

Jerry, That is really cool!! I have seen video of fish elsewhere creating a funky nesting pattern in the sand like that. Identify Patterns in Gravel ?
This pattern was photographed on Hood Canal. It was taken at a minus 3.3 tide. The pattern is about 4 feet in diameter. There are over 25 of them that continue on to deeper water.
This beach is private and people are definitely not the source.
Any ideas ?
Thanks,
Jerry

Maybe this isnt a good test, but for scootering, I'm always concerned over regulators leaking. So I pressurize the lines in my test tank, and shake the 2nd abit to see how much they leak. My Scuba Pro R190s (and thank you Captain Jack for the recommendation on these, they work awesome), bubble a sm...

Re: What defines a "Stroke" diver?
The term started back in the days of when the "Doing It Right" (DIR) principles were founded by the ever colorful George Irvine.. He was a very pompous and arrogant (although very capable and skilled) diver at the time that used to do cutting edge dives and exploration in the Cave systems...
