The mooring buoy is a navigational buoy. It is anchored around 140 fsw near the end of pipe. For clarification, this is the yellow buoy when looking out from Les Davis and to the left (NW).

Re: T-Handle for BlackTip DPV?

No experience with the T-handle but you can modify the firmware. This can give you cruise control and a few other options to make piloting it easier. CC would allow you to just switch hands and not need to hold the thumb trigger. Firmware: https://github.com/bwoodill/BT_VESC Interesting. I would ch...

Hello,

Planning a dive at the pipe and wanting to know the current mooring depth of the buoy. We're planning to surface swim out and drop the line. I'd prefer to hit hardscape prior to 150...

Re: South African in Seattle

Welcome to some of the best diving in the world. PNW offers some of the best opportunities if you're willing to conquer the cold. For drysuits I'd recommended getting a Seaskin. They're all custom, made to measure, so there isn't an issue with poor fitting or baggy suits. They cost about $1200 if yo...

Another +1 for the Mares Quattro. I dive them wet and dry (2 different sizes) and have done so dive 2001. They are very close to neutral and a very powerful fin.

YSS has one more spot on a Neah Bay trip 2nd week in July. They have a house rented out and will be hosting x2 3 day "trips". As of right now unless they fill that last spot they will not be going. This is not a beginner trip as each site is very current sensitive. Contact Katherine for fu...

A dremel with a wire wheel works pretty good at removing the old glue prior to sand paper and acetone.

Headline news reporting at its finest right there. 1 diver rescued, was he solo? If not, where is his buddy? The good news is that he made it topside.

I use this and it is fantastic. 4 tanks, 1 BC, 1 BP/W, weights and all the extras without issue. Makes long treks from the parking lot a lot better.

Re: Folding Gear Table Recommendations?

Well you didn't say it was a height disparity! I would think that stowing and retrieving it from the bed in full gear would be more of a challenge since the tailgate isn't the appropriate height already. Maybe something that could attach to the hitch and then stay out while diving?

Re: Folding Gear Table Recommendations?

Fold, stow, retrieve, unfold... all while in full kit? Are your trying to save your car or suv? You mentioned truck above so I'm not sure. For me my tailgate is perfect for all of that and a table would just be one more thing to wrestle with.

Re: Cheap Tropical Shore Diving?

It all depends on what you're into. I like the big island. 2 Step has a a really nice reef fire about 75-100 yards that drops from 5ft to 35 ft. After that it goes pretty deep with a nice wall of coral. Occasional tiger shark and lots of pretty fish. When I was there in May I had over 100 feet of vi...

Re: Gear

I have a Hog 32lb wing with their aluminum BP. Don't go less than a 30lb wing. The amount of weight on our rigs here in PNW needs the bigger lift capacity. Steel tank, backplate (SS or AL), regs, etc all add up quick and your wing may not be able to float if you remove it in the water. I dive with a...
