I'm guessing it might be related to paddling festival on the 25th/26th at Jack Block park... from the map on their web page it looks like they may be using cove 1 as the intstruction beach:

Re: Junkyard Eelgrass
A couple photos near the line in around 40-50 feet (not using the new housing I was testing yesterday). Happilly the inhabitant of the tube on the bottom still seems to be happily at home

Junkyard Eelgrass
Now that the wind finally died down, decided to do a quick dive at my new main dive site (Junkyard) both to unwind and to test the waterproofness of my new s95 housing... Got down to around 35 feet, couldn't see the line, but could see a field of eelgrass... hmm.. don't remember that here. Look a li...

Re: Who has a Canon S95 or G12 and what do you think?
I just ordered an s95 in and an ikelite housing... Can't give you any feedback yet (still too be delivered), but should be getting it wet next week. I went for the ikelite case mainly because I use a Canon 7D as my primary camera (sometimes don't want to have to lug that whole thing around), and pre...

Re: Strobe Lights and White Balance
No promises it'll work since that version of CS is really quite old, but one workaround that sometimes works is to downaload Adobe's free DNG converter to convert the s90's raw file to a DNG and then try loading that in photoshop (DNG is adobe's "standardized" raw format). http://www.adobe...

Re: Looking to borrow nearsighted mask for 9/28
I've got an old 4Site mask I haven't used in a couple years (it's a backup now). Should be around -1.5 or -1.75 in each eye. It's a bit yellowed and beat up, but should be diveable if it fits and I'd be willing to loan it...

Re: DUI ZipSeals neck ring system
I can appreciate the DUI soft ring system for the wrist seals, but they require getting kitted up in gloves up and I want my hands gloveless till the last minute. Be sure to try fitting one over your head before you buy! Personally the neck seal works fine for me, but I agree about the gloves. I di...

I saw one floating midwater (in about 15 ft) at the Alki Junkyard last night... Unfortunately I wasn't able to track down the rest of his friends, just the one loner:

Re: Volunteer divers at the aquarium?
Though if you're diving PCR (pacific coral reef) you don't even have to do that. Just bring a swimsuit and a mask (since you don't always use the full facemask in there). It did ruin my bouyance for a few dives once I got used to running around on the bottom in that tank though :) Gear might be a li...

Re: Warm water photography
The only thing that really caught me when I first did warm water photography is that I discovered I'd often been lazy and used too slow of a shutter speed in cold water (ie, basically ignored it). If you're using a strobe and there isn't much ambient light, it doesn't matter (the strobe is faster th...

Re: Fish eggs at TTN
Thanks. I was relatively happy with it. Working on getting used to my new camera and starting to get comfortable with the differences. I did see a whitespotted greenling guarding a bunch of less-developed eggs elsewhere during the dive.

Fish eggs at TTN
A couple of shots of fish eggs from Three Tree on Sunday. A number of greenlings on eggs, but not sure who the parent of these was (no guard in sight).

Re: Playing with a new lens
Thanks. At 100% you can see it's a LITTLE bit softer than without the TC, but I overall really am happy with the results. Definitely a setup that's going to take a while to completely figure out though. Camera steadiness is rather crucial, getting the focus lights "just" right is important...

Playing with a new lens
Just a couple of photos I took today at Edmonds while playing with a new lens setup (my second dive with this setup, and the first where I didn't accidentally leave the camera set to 1600iso). A 100mm Macro + 1.4x teleconverter on my Rebel XTi. QUITE hard to get autofocus to lock on (it needed the f...

Re: New to UW photography- strobes for UW pics?
I'd guess it's likely just the STiX foam(for instance here): http://www.backscatter.com/HostedStore.LassoApp?-ResponseLassoApp=detail.lasso&ID=06bb914f2e4fa0d1 They both sell an arm system and foam cut specifically for the ultralight arms... Though I'm guessing you could likely make it work on o...

They sure are pretty though. Saw this one in Malaysia. Have to admit I'm generally happy to sea one (but have only seen them as isolated individuals).

Re: Oil Dock Sunday-best time?
I haven't done the site much in the last few years, so take this for what it's worth, but that's about what I was planning too. I'm actually planning in the water at 4pm, but mainly just because I'm expecting the actual time to slip a bit ;) Looked likely there will be a bit of play on the post-slac...
