No cenotes for me. You either love em or hate em, I go to Mexico for the bright blue clear water!

Mexico

Just got back from Mexico. Had a great time. Dove both Cozumel and Cancun. If you haven't dove that area it's a great time. The visibility is well over hundred feet and on a great day maybe 200 feet. The coral heads are as big as houses. The swim throughs are fun. I really enjoy hanging over the dee...

Nice photos. I like the coloring on the baby wolfies. The few babies that I have seen are probably a little older and have been a rust color. Are these photos with your new g10?

Re: what do you do when you can't dive but are nitrogen deprived

Read some of the Andrea Doria books, Shadow Divers, Deep Descent, The Last Dive. Pick a direction you want to go with your diving and find the books to learn about that aspect of diving.

Pick a day and get wet!

Re: Advice needed: BackPlates/Wing/Harness..

I dove the first wooden backplate back in the day. It smelled of a deep, rich mahogany. I had to borrow a couple wooden bottles from a certain someone on this board, as the vine-made manifold would only work with those two. D(B) We used to have to dive uphill in the snow, both ways, in a log cabin ...

Re: My New Camera

I have a Canon SD 880 which is similar to your new camera. You should be able to turn off the power down feature by going to your menu and choosing the tools option. Scroll down to Power Saving and choose Off. You'll run down your battery faster, but you can turn your lcd display on and off during ...

Re: My New Camera

I am using the AF 35. Overall it works great. The piece across the the bottom that connects the camera to the flash is very flimsy. I might try to modify it to keep it from breaking. The flash takes some getting used to because it is so powerful it can cause unique shadows if it is not pointed corre...

My New Camera

I recently purchased a new Canon 990 IS. Overall I am very happy with it. I bought an Ikelite housing. The housing is much nicer than my previous Canon housing. It is nuetrally bouyant so it was very easy to manage, I am not as worried about dropping it into the abyss. The one thing I don't like is ...

Re: Regs Options for AL40

Are you going to carry a Deco bottle when you dive doubles? If you are another way to go would be to get an OMS workhorse for the smaller bottle and get a higher quality reg for your doubles. The OMS is not something I would dive as a primary reg, but they are reliable, inexpensive, and easy to serv...

Hoodscanal 8/9

Great day with Pac Adventures today. We dove Pullali Fingers and the West Wall. We had at least 30 feet of viz, great ambient light, and lots of color. If you haven't dove with Pacific Adventures your missing out. Truly a first class operation, every day is great on the downtime!

Re: Nudibranch abundance question

I have always seen the larger things on a dive, wolfies, octos, rockfish. I recently have caught the photgraphy bug and I really look for the smaller details to photograph. Right now it seems that the Hoodscanal is covered with baby Nudis.

It's been a long work week, so I didn't make any dive plans. Anyone diving tommorrow in Hoodscanal or south sound? If your group wouldn't mind another let me know.

Re: Fox Island East Wall.......

The current can rip at Fox. Nice photos, is this with or without your new flash? I keep asking because I am camera shopping and am thinking of a similar setup to waht you have.

I am thinking SD 990 with the Ikelite and the AF 35 flash.
