Re: Shadows

Sockmonkey, Larry (Mr Loco) will be home shortly but I can pass along your question... :smt064 Yes, that is exactly what I was getting only the shadow was in the lower left corner. But no more!!! The diffuser works!!! No more shadows. You'd be amazed how creative I had to be, trying to focus the sub...

Re: Shadows

I never thought that the diffuser would have any bearing on the "shadow". Interesting - I'll try that and report back. My friend is not using a diffuser either though. When I use the strobe, it is a slave via fiber optic cable. But this is happending without the use of the strobe. I'm goin...

Re: Shadows

Scottsax, you're right on the money. When I turn the flash off, no shadow; with the setting on "auto flash", no shadow; but with the flash "on", I get a shadow. If I then use the strobe all the time, I shouldn't have problems right? But what do you suppose is different with my fr...

Re: Shadows

Good answer. It very well could be that because I was initially using the flash on "auto" setting; maybe when I set the flash "on" this started. I set my friends camera up with the same settings as mine and hers doesn't have the shadow though. I will try your idea and report back...

Re: Shadows

But this is all without any external equipment - just the camera in the housing. No strobe, no light. And someone else's camera using my housing had shadows. When we put her camera back in her housing, no shadows. Maybe I can post a couple pics later but it seems so bizarre that without seeing the c...

Re: Shadows

I've taken pictures with the strobe and light, with just the strobe, without wither the strobe and light. Yesterday when I exchanged housings with a friend (no strobe or lights - just the camera in the housing), on land we took the same pictures first with her camera in her housing then her camera i...

Shadows

I've had a little Casio 12 mg for a couple of years now. Recently I added a strobe and focus light. It seems to be the start of the problem? I'm getting a shadow across the lower left corner of photos now; on land or underwater; with or without the strobe and focus light - but not when the camera is...

Re: Alaskan Dive Trip

This looks like a great time. I grew up in Juneau and Larry spent a number of years there but didn't dive back then. Can you give me more information? When? How much? Nearby lodging?

Re: ?? Shrimp & eggs

Thanks for the info everyone; I knew that shrimp carry their eggs - don't know what I was thinking. The shrimp seemed awful protective of the eggs but it does make sense that it would be protective of breakfast as well... #-o

Found this shrimp and eggs within a couple inches of each other at the Mukilteo t-dock. Do you suppose they're related?

Re: Cool things you did and happen during the Expo

OK, THAT'S a pretty interesting story! Did the boat become a wreck dive? We got to meet the owner of the company (Pacific Coast Divers) from Costa Rica that rescued us in a storm in 2002 when the boat we were on (Costa Rica Diving) capsized in 10' seas. They want to use our story and have invited u...

We got to meet the owner of the company (Pacific Coast Divers) from Costa Rica that rescued us in a storm in 2002 when the boat we were on (Costa Rica Diving) capsized in 10' seas. They want to use our story and have invited us back to take us diving with a 'class act dive operation'. Really great g...

Re: When good dives go BAD! Lessons Learned?

My husband and I dropped to the runabout at the Mukilteo T-dock. No big deal except that Larry got a little narced and decided that his compass heading couldn’t be right; he thought he must have bumped it. Even though we had set and agreed on the settings of our compasses before the dive, my reactio...

Re: Unusual Hermit Crab

I ended up with the double tray, the Ultramax UXDS strobe, and the Fantasea 360 light. All total it's quite negative and because we are typically only about 2' off the bottom, I have to hold it really tight to me. I'm going to look at having a double tie-off so it will just stay tight to me until I'...
