Re: Unusual Hermit Crab
That's great, thanks Greg. I didn't really pay much attention to the depth but think we were 20-30 fsw; I was just playing with the new strobe and actually didn't realize the "hair" until I got the photo home.

Re: Unusual Hermit Crab
This was the first use of the new strobe and focus light. I think I need to spend more time getting used to the bulk.

Unusual Hermit Crab
Found this yesterday at the Muk t-dock. I looked through my few books and didn't see it. I've never seen a hairy hermit crab before?

Re: You gave me a heat pack Saturday: reporting how it worked!
You're welcome oregondiver. I posted a pm to you the other day but thought I could let others know as well: There was some concern of these little bundles of warmth reacted poorly to saltwater (in case of leaks). Not so with the little hand warmers I used - one fell out when Larry was getting out of...

Re: Mukilteo Lighthouse Park - NO diving?
Well done people! I would have loved to be there to see this one but will definitely be at the City Council meeting (wearing the updating look of the green NWDC shirt- Thanks Pez and Calvin. I'm with you John, "HOW FRICKING COOL IS THAT". Good job to everyone who spoke, both at the Council...

Re: Mukilteo Lighthouse Park - NO diving?
John, will you have enough people showing for the Thursday meeting? I have an earlier appointment but could try to get there if you don't think there will be enough. I think the number of divers spoke volumns at the City Council.

Re: saturday and sunday club fun!
Thanks John.
It was really fun trying to guess who's who from their posts.
Wet on land is just not the same as wet under the surface, but luckily the sun shone upon us on Sunday and made for a much warmer day.
Fun weekend.

Thanks for your questions nwbrewer. I know so little about the subject that I don't even know the right questions for ask. This helps alot. Thanks to you too dusty for sharing about your new toy. I've got to sit down and talk more to Jack so that he can help put together "just the right package...

Re: Strobes??
No worries Dusty. But do let me know how your new strobe works out?
Thanks for all the help.
The strobe you (and Jack also) recommended is $600.00 - That's more than the camera and housing cost total. It'll work on an upgrade so may just go forth. Take take $$ with you.
Thanks to all

Re: Strobes??
Dusty, when are your new strobes due in? I'd like to see if Larry and I can meet up with you to check them out and do a dive? We met you at Redondo once and I see that you post reports from there quite often so if you're available on a weekend I'd sure like to see what you've got. I need to get some...

but you have experience on your side.
I loved my little Z1000 but like I said, this one needs more operator input and this operator isn't providing it! I'll get it one of these days.

Re: Strobes??
I agree with all yours suggestions and will need to go back to the basics of photography. I think that I'll look into the strobes though because I don't want to do another tropical vacation (in May) without a little better setup. My husband is convinced that I need the new Canon but I think I'll do ...

Re: Strobes??
I have so much to learn. So much for the ps cameras; even they need operator attention. I agree with you nwbrewer, it's been a wonderful run with the little camera you can stuff in a pocket or giant stride with. I guess if I want consistancy, I need to (1) learn to use the camera with its settings a...

I figured that I'd have to pony up and get a better model than the Sealife so am ok that it has a new home. Is there one you would recommend, or better yet, recommend against?

Re: Strobes??
What's funny is that I just sold my Sealife camera and strobe a month ago; before I realized the problem might be the strobe. Thanks for all the help on this. It looks like I need to do a little research on Ikelite and Sea & Sea. I originally bought the Z1200 for it's size and thinking that it d...

So, with all that said, and thanks so much; do either of you have any recommendations for strobes? Bob, I thought some time back I remember you saying on a thread that you were shooting with a Z1200. You've got some incredible pictures, and if I could shoot half that well, I'd be darn happy with my ...

But back to the question; why are they blue??? I've played with the white balance and had some luck but the colors still weren't really good.
