Re: Coast Guard rescues diver off Neah Bay

We did do the rockpile on Tuesday. It was an interesting dive, it was definately better than not diving at all. We saw several octopi, and tiger rock fish. The black rockfish were so abundant that even I, a simple bubble blower, felt like I was diving CCR because I could reach out and shew fish out ...

Re: Coast Guard rescues diver off Neah Bay

I was out on the strait in Bill Mitton's boat on Tuesday. Bill turned the boat around because of the conditions. There was forcasted 8-10 MPH Winds. The fog rolled in and out quickly on Tuesday, but the swells were also a major major concern. We actually left the hook based on reports that weather c...

Re: Dogfish question

I hadn't seen one in sometime, but had one join me for the majority of my dive at Sund Rock on Saturday evening. We specifically stuck around to do a night dive, and it paid off. Very cool dive.

Re: Jorsted Creek Access

Just out of curiosity, is there a WSA buoy on the site? There really isn't a need for one at this site either. It's an easy site to find while there is a wall there (that is also easy to find) there is more to the dive site than just the wall with outcrops of rock sin the shallower sections. It's r...

Re: Jorsted Creek Access

Unfortunately I just looked it up on the Mason County GIS website, and it's just a crappy java script map they use, but they don't show the easement for 101 hitting the water between Jorsted, and Hamma Hamma Creeks. To the best of my ability I think this is the parcel in question 32434-42-70381 (Par...

Jorsted Creek Access

Perhaps I missed this somewhere, I did a search but couldn't find anything. Jorsted Creek is now posted with signs that identify the tidelands as being private, and access to the beach is probited. Looking through old threads regarding octopus hole it seems that the DOT has some easement. The bounda...

OH man I wish you would have posted this before I went to sleep last night. I would have joined you after work this afternoon.

I was looking at going to the hood canal this weekend. If anyone is still looking for a dive on the hood this weekend get a hold of me.

Thanks,

South Sound Diving Thursday Night

Let's go diving Thursday night, who is in? I would like to do Redondo south if possible? I could be crossing the Narrows bridge by 4:45 or so. Thus any additional travel time the site of choice.

Thanks,

Austin

Re: Free ascent from seventy feet

Thanks for sharing. Don't beat yourself up too much, learn from this experience, I'm sure others will by reading your story. I agree with the bungied back back-up recommendation a lot of people have given. And, I too agree that 7ft hoses have some advantages, but make sure you understand the system....

Tacoma Scuba is involved with Hollis you may talk to them about instructors. I know they have taught two classes, one with an instructor from Hawai'i and one with an instructor from Vancouver. It sounds like the instructor from Vancouver recieved some high remarks.

Re: Pony bottle - replacement for, or in addition to octo?

Jeff brings up a good point terminology is kind of ambiguous! Here areal e assumptions I make when I hear the term pony bottle. 1. The bottle is only to be used in case of an emergency! 2. The bottle contains a gas that is suitable at your deepest depth! 3. The bottle is not being used to accelerate...

Re: Pony bottle - replacement for, or in addition to octo?

I tend to be in the camp of good gas planning, buddy practice, and long hose and bungied back up only. If more redundancy is required than I wear doubles (as it turns out I'm almost exclusively in doubles because I don't maintain a singles reg setup, although I should). That being said the couple of...

In what seems to be the worst article ever written Kiro 7 reports that the body was found, no miracle this time. There is not a lot of information in the article. Well damn, that sucks!
