Re: Strongest currents

Worst unplanned for current was a bad day at Deception Pass. Highest current was probably a planned Agate Pass drift dive.

Re: Sekiu

Hey Eric! Current isn't an issue at Seiku as long as you stay in among the rocks and there is no reason to go outside of the rocks as there is nothing to see except sand! :) However, if you do, for whatever reason, move outside of the rocks then there can be a lot of current (which is why everything...

Re: Sekiu

Haha...that has happened to me a couple of times as well so I know what you are talking about.

I don't think it's bad enough for someone to avoid the site for this reason however. :) It is annoying sometimes though.

I'm not very objective however as I love this site!

Re: This doesn't sound good...

I just assumed some lung over expansion injury. It sounds like it's not too bad (hopefully). I'm sure the prognosis gets better with time.

Re: This doesn't sound good...

I hope he makes it as well (obviously)! My thought was just (in the absence of a scooter) that it is an awfully long way to get past 200 fsw at Cove 2. I realize that it's in the 300 fsw range in the middle of Elliott Bay but getting past 200 fsw there requires a lot of traveling. Hopefully all turn...

Re: Question on GPOs & how they eat crab... (NHZ)

I asked Roland Anderson this question several years ago and I thought the answer was more or less that the radula secretes the enzyme and gets the meat out or the beak makes an opening, "spits" the enzyme in and then the radula takes over. I don't recall anything about an open water enzyme...

Gray, no we just found this one. We had never seen it before.

Re: Are you fussier about viz than you used to be?

I am pickier about diving when I know the viz is especially bad. Once I'm there I do the dive however. The worst viz I've had has been at Redondo, Mukilteo T-dock and Sund Rock. I'm just fussier about diving in general than I used to be. It's easier for me to take a break from diving in general. Onc...

Re: The Skyline Experiment

I tend to get in :30 later than most others and I've had pretty good luck. I don't use the :30 NW Shoredives Book correction...I consider slack before ebb at Rosario to be slack for Skyline Wall. I never hear of anyone experiencing an early slack at Skyline. Think about any less than optimal days yo...

Re: Swinging at Rosario Beach

The worst is that combination with a steep sandy bottom. As the water washes out, your foot goes down into the sand almost like quicksand just as you're trying to climb up with the water at your heals and then of course it comes back in and tries to knock you down!

Nice report Bob. I've been to Urchin Rocks and all I can remember is that it was shallow and it had a lot of Urchins. With Skyline just around the corner I haven't been back. I have always wondered about Northwest Island however. Good to see a report.

Re: How to get a good fill

There's a lot of reasons for shorter fills on HP tanks. Less so with LP tanks. Some shops/boats can't handle HP pressures as well as others. Some newer divers are concerned with overfilling (they've heard that it's wrong or dangerous). Some shops feel that way. It's much harder to get that last 500 ...

I'm looking for a job (who isn't). I thought it might be productive/useful if anyone who has a job and is actually in an industry/company that is hiring might use this thread just as a heads up. It might not help me if it's not something that I could do but it might help someone. I realize that most...

Re: best shore site within a 2 Hr drive of Edmonds??

Drive a little further and go to Sekiu...plenty of life. Plenty of swell out that way this weekend too. Surge is a trade-off in the winter but the kelp cover is much less (no bull kelp). No current at any time among the rocks and usually decent viz in the winter. Easy shore entry. Longer drive and ...

Re: Deep CCR dives - split from "I rebreathed"

Interesting. So you worked in the Navy Experimental Diving Unit? Twenty years in that has got to be hard on the body! 1200 fsw on a rebreather should be interesting. Be sure to report back. Just curious as to why you would be asked to test military equipment? It is part my design so I would defiantl...

FYI- Laura I think you did brief babysitting duty at the climbing gym the other day for the person I was climbing with! I don't usually see you except in dive gear so I thought that perhaps that person was related to you rather than you. In hindsight I'm sure it was you (correct me if I"m wrong)!

Just curious as to why you would be asked to test military equipment? It is part my design so I would defiantly be their. I wanted to do the dive as well and test the rEvo at depth what better time than a test dive with a full safety crew on board. Interesting. So what was the piece of equipment fe...
