Re: Tried Kayak diving? Got any tips?
Hi Janna, I used to dive mine a lot when I was living up in Seattle and I'd be happy to get together with you and show you the kit that I've put together and how I've rigged mine. A while back a few of us got together up at Battleground Lake and did some practice dives that were a lot of fun too. Ross

"Inside" look at local critters coming to Seattle Aquarium
Here are some amazing images of some local fishes that will be featured in an exhibit in March at the Seattle Aquarium: http://www.picturingscience.com/ An article in the DailyMail also describes the process and includes images of some other local favorites such as the scalyhead sculpin and spiny lu...

WTB Ditchachable Weight Pockets for BP/W
Anyone have any ditchable weight pockets cluttering up their dive locker that they'd like to part with? I'm looking for something in the 20-30lb range to add to the harness on my backplate and wing. I've been diving for years with a weight belt but had some recent back problems that make me think ha...

Sign me up! I think I'm in for a very steep learning curve as it will be a significant step up from my aged point and shoot.LCF wrote:I'm going to be excited to hear the reactions of the people who have bought this -- we should start an EPL-1 club!

It fits the characteristics of a quillback, but a more important question for Janna might be: how well does it fit your head? Remember, if you don't provide pictures it didn't happen.Dusty2 wrote:how about a quillback?

Thank you Greg! That was only my third dive at Salt Creek and I was able to add two new species to my life list! (heart urchin and northern abalone in the wild!) Needless to say I was pretty excited at the end of the dive.

Unfortunately not an uncommon sight at dive sites near urban areas: http://www.nwdiveclub.com/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=14931&p=176763&hilit=cremated#p176763 I for one am considering having my ashes incorporated into a cement structure that would at least provide some habitat rather than smot...

Sea Urchin Identification Question
While diving at Salt Creek last weekend I saw a sea urchin at about 30 feet that was definitely not a red, purple or green urchin. Of course I didn't have my camera (headslap!) but I spent some time examining it and this was what I saw: it was light colored (tannish) and it was definitely alive (tub...

WTB Ikelite Housing (6148.01 TTL)
From what I've seen there is only one seller out there so they've set the price pretty high. I posted a similar message on ScubaBoard (where I've been a registered user since 2009 but only have one post...) in their photography classified section but if there are other public forums where photograph...

Re: WTB Ikelite Housing (6148.01 TTL)
Thank you for the suggestion Kyle. I've been checking online (including ebay) and the only listing I could find was on Price Grabber for $840: http://cameras.pricegrabber.com/underwater-housings/Ikelite-Underwater-Canon-Powershot-SX-10is/m709056759.html but I thought that was a little steep for an o...

WTB Ikelite Housing (6148.01 TTL)
I recently acquired a refurbished Canon Powershot SX10 IS and I would like to find a housing for it. Unfortunately, Ikelite was the only manufacturer who produced a housing (Model Number 6148.01 TTL) for this model and the line has been discontinued. If anyone out there has an Ikelite 6148.01 TTL th...

Project Baseline
Please consider uploading your critter sightings to the REEF database as well. Janna coordinated some baseline surveys at Saltwater after the new structures were built and every survey report will help to document the changes at this site. Thank you for all your efforts!
