Re: Some thoughts

In LJ's perfect world, OW, Advanced and GUE Primer (or equivalent) would be combined and taught as a "northwest diver" program (which i believe is essentially what Bob does). You'd come out very squared away for a 'new' diver, with all the tools necessary to go forth and start diving and ...

Re: Opalescent squid at Alki Junkyard

Nice!! I've yet to see a opalescent squid here for myself, but I did see a whitespotted greenling on a Redondo night dive in the last 3 months. I had to look it up because it was the first I had seen in the wild too.

I have taken a class with Brian (as much as I'm sure he wants to forget those trainwrecks), and can say that if you want to see what I mean by demonstration quality, just dive with him one day, and you'll see what I mean. Both him and Jeanna have a very calming sense in the water because they have ...

I guess I need to see one. The pictures look like you have to grip them, in which case then I dont see the hands free arguments presented earlier. If I'm gonna sip the kool aid, I need to be able to grab the glass. I have an elastic handle for my light and I love it. Although the "proper"...

Most of the ones I've been seeing are about the size of a lumpie and are out in the open, away from all of the structures. Although I have seen 1-2 rather large adults, it's been mostly teeny-tiny baby ones.

interesting, care to share why? The Sola is more a focus light or video light and therefor it has a wider beam than a can light. Yes, it is way more diffuse--even on the spot beam setting. And since you'll always want it on the high setting, note that the run time is approximately 70 minutes. That ...

Re: Sola 600's on sale...

Jeff, FWIW, we have a SOLA 1200 that will be great for tropical diving, but I tried to use it as a primary light here during a night dive and quickly switched back to my Dive Rite can light. It just didn't cut it. YMMV, but I thought I'd share . . . especially since I have the model up from the one ...
