Tacoma Scuba
Once again they have impressed me. So my job has prevented me for diving for a few months and I've had a tank sitting down there after a hydro and fillthe for about that amount of time. So I finally make it down there to grab it and forget to bring my wallet. Their response: "take it and get us...

Re: Heading to FL, what drysuit undie should I bring?
I dove my CF200 with thermal undies when I'm down there. Once you're in the water your fine, getting to the water :nutty: JB is really low right now from all I've been hearing, your not going to really submerge unless your in the cavern zone. The rest of the lake isn't all that deep so have fun/good...

Re: DIR approach
Why GUE? Lots of agencies out there to teach higher diving education that aren't cultish. I cannot speak for other agencies but my experience with the PADI system has not been entirely good. Just my opinion but it seems to be more about promoting tropical diving travel and gear sales. Which I under...

Re: Side Mount Deco Bottles
If coming from a hole on your plate, 8" sounds a bit long to me honestly. Maybe I need thinner dive undies, I can barely reach the 8"ers. I ride mine real high, literally the valves are in my arm pits. I find it handy to figure out I can't fit through something before I'm half way in ther...

Re: Side Mount Deco Bottles
Sounds easy enough, are you clipping in at all into the upper stage clip? Pics that I have seen show upper clip rotated up and semi fixed, and then bungee is run through upper clip. I've seen it done, I wouldn't. Just makes it harder to get in and out of. For me, my left tank has a reg comming off ...

Re: Side Mount Deco Bottles
1) Get about a 8" bungee through one of the holes on your BP and a dog clip on the other end. 2) Clip the bottom of your deco bottle to a double-D ring on the back of your crotch strap or a butt plate. (may need to adjust location of lower clip on your bottle for fit/comfort) 3) Stick the deco ...

Anyone have any left over DIN valves laying around? I picked up some bailout bottles but need to bring them up to standard. Anyone near tacoma that has some and would let them go for cheap?

Re: Recreational dive computer?
If your thinking about guage mode already perhaps you need to look at a real tec computer. You can buy a base model shearwater pretty cheap and upgrade as needed or find a used one on some of the forums great computer and you can grow into it. Again this is mostly if you already have future technica...

Re: Purchasing Doubles
All that said if I were starting out today I would skip the doubles all together. I'd rent until I could get squared away with a rebreather. That is the way of the future for people who want to do extended range diving. Plus, more and more tourist destinations are carrying consumables for rebreathe...

Re: Purchasing Doubles
I think bigger is always better until: 1) you have to carry them anywhere. 2) you're diving off a small boat. 3) you miss a dive that required a very spcific mix and now you have to decide if you're going to blow $250 on a 60' dive with buddies or buy a new set of doubles. Beyond that 95's with a &q...

Dave, you always have the rain and weather and dive conditions to complain about but I've heard a rumor about the real reason you whine so much...your just trying to keep everyone out of your own little slice of paradise. Evidence attatched, doesn't look like it's raining. http://www.rebreatherworld...

Re: Should I keep my wet suit?
Haven't used a wet suit sense my 8th dive. Dove a lot in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Aaska and here and have always been more comfortable diving dry.
The leaky drysuit thing may sound like a good reason but there's very few leaks some aqua seal wont take care of at least temporary.
