Hello from Sam

I've been here a while, and been to a few events, but haven't been very active, especially lately. My wife and I were diving just about every week up until Thanksgiving, and since then I've only dived in warm water on our vacation. She's now in Italy, so I'll be looking to hook up with compatible di...

Re: Gas Management with Bob Bailey

I took the NAUI Nitrox and Deep Diver courses from Bob, and gas management was part of that. I highly recommend as an instructor, and as a speaker on gas management. I don't know how far you have to go, but it's hard for me to imagine feeling it wasn't worth the trip once you've heard what he has to...

Re: I can night dive now!

Great report, Blaiz! I was there and had a great time, too. First time I've seen Jack's reef, and on our second dive we went way out around the end of the jetty. No current at Keystone is way cool! So now you have new underwear, er, new diving undergarments, but you didn't say what kind it is. Pleas...

Re: Oct. 24 - NWDC Club Dive ... Keystone!

I'll be there, and apparently, looking for buddy. There's a recently-discovered anchor I'd like to explore if the current allows. And yeah, we have floor space and camping mattresses in our small spare room, and yard space for campers. Y'all come!

Re: Club Dive! Club Dive! Club Dive! September 18th!

What a great day! Thanks to Penelope for putting it on, and it was great to meet everyone. The viz was great, the weather held out, and everyone was so friendly. Can't wait to see everyone again up here at our home spot, Keystone!

Re: Decompression and dive computer

What a great thread! I really appreciate how everyone has been so, well, realistic about this and not just going off into the "No, no, no!" thing. I've talked to Tube about this (I swear she came up with the idea on her own!), and it's obvious that she has no intention of just going off an...

Re: Sharing Air at Keystone

You don't understand. I have taken the NAUI Deep Diver and Nitrox classes from NWGrateful Diver, and you can believe that there was a heavy dose of gas planning in those.

Re: Sharing Air at Keystone

OK, hijack over, back to the subject you barbarians! Tubesnout and I have had a great conversation about what we hope to learn from this dive, and a lot of it was inspired by your comments, so thanks for your participation. As we gain more experience we are getting more comfortable with changing the...

Here are a couple of photos I took that day. One shows what the surface looked like, one is of that mean old sculpin who stole all my air!

Re: Sharing Air at Keystone

We didn't cross, we descended at the pilings, then went less that half way across before heading south. I was checking my SPG. I remember that we turned at, or soon after, our planned turn pressure, even if I don't remember what the number was. It's just that we probably should have planned to turn ...

Re: Sharing Air at Keystone

It is interesting to bounce things off other people and see what comes back. Sometimes quite a bit gets garbled in the transmission, so you never know how someone else's interpretation of a brief written description of the dive will compare to my own memory of it. Let's be clear here - there was no ...

Re: Sharing Air at Keystone

I'm the buddy. It's interesting how two people can remember a shared event differently, sometimes so much that someone else might think we were talking about two completely separate events. In this case I think the differences are pretty minor, but let me present my view... The current was not too s...

Port Townsend Dive Shops

I recently went to Port Townsend to do some shore dives. While we were there, we heard some interesting stories about the dive shops in that town. It seems that, depending on who you are talking to, you get a totally different version of the story. I wonder if it's possible to get a little more info...

Re: Sunday afternoon with Bandito ....

This was my first Puget Sound dive charter, and I have to say Bandito did a great job! The boat was well laid out, plenty of space, stable, and the dry parts were dry. And the crew, Rick and Jackie, were great; capable, CLEAR!, and cheerful all day. I had a great time! Our dives went well (not count...

Re: Skyline May 3rd

I'm the buddy on this dive. Too much to say about it right now, but I just want everybody to know that I'm really proud of how Tubesnout23 was able to recover from a near-panic situation. Yes, we both made mistakes going in; we didn't study the site well enough to know that a low exchange was not go...

Re: Keystone CLOSING - possibly

When I first read about this in the Whidbey News Times, I posted a comment emphasizing that we all need to sacrifice in hard times. After learning more about the issue I posted another comment with the three points below, which were also included in messages I sent to legislators Bailey, Smith, Linv...
