Re: Major Changes for Point Hudson

HudsonJettyReplacement.png On my way out of the water back in Jan 2021, I stopped to talk with one of the local Port Commissioners who happens to be a diver. Attached is an email I sent regarding the replacement. Point is, I'm not sure if this helped but I don't think it hurt. I dove the new reef f...

Re: Hypothetical Question (sorta): What do you do if you find a firearm while diving?

Cool topic. A year ago while diving Point Hudson, I came across a hinge action shortened barrel 20 gauge shotgun with a modified stock. I made a short video to document the location (guessing it was thrown off the NW Maritime Center dock), made sure it was safe and headed to the beach with it. Befor...

Re: The time has come

Rich, although we never dove as buddy's, but have official dove together (signaled OK to each other underwater), I will miss your reports. I will never, ever, ever forget Point Hundson and the Mola Mola which is permanently embedded in my brain. And, I will not forget when we talked on the surface a...

Re: Fin/foot problem(s)

If you are late to the party, as I was, you can buy them at your destination shop. However, you may not have your pick of colors. I didn't have the luxury of colors and ended with these. image.jpg Fortunately I am into comfort rather than fashion. Or, you can <insert search engine of choice> "S...

Re: Fin/foot problem(s)

Synthetic Socks = Bingo!

Speaking from experience, with that much diving in a short period, add the synthetic socks and don't change anything else and your problem will go away and you will be a happy tropical diver. :partydance:

....and just in case you want one more opinion, I carry on every dive, in my dry suit pocket, a 72" Carter Personal Float with a Finger Spool that has 100+ feet of line (minus the dive flag attachment. I think it's an option and kinda goofy). Having spent a fair amount of time live boat diving ...

Seriously? How is "rinsing" defined? I'm not seeing such a rule here: http://www.nps.gov/olym/parkmgmt/loader.cfm?csModule=security/getfile&PageID=387482 I can't find the rule either, but it is posted at the Storm King boat launch (citing the applicable code) and the Ranger was VERY f...

Being an owner of a fair number of Worthington 100's, I heard about this issue last year. Check this link out for more information and Worthington's procedure for Hydrostatic Requals. Probably wouldn’t hurt to print and attach a copy of this to each of your cylinders heading in for hydro. http://www...

Re: Another week another gruesome find

As someone who does have a bit of background in law enforcement, I still disagree. The authorities are likely not going to pay any mind to the report and human cremains found underwater are not an indication of a crime, other than littering on DNR land. But, I'm ok with disagreeing - it's not perso...

Re: Another week another gruesome find

I'll toss this out there (pun intended) - if you come across human remains in a plastic sack or urn or whatever, and aren't creeped-out by the thought of it, please scatter the remains where you find them and bring the plastic bag back to the parking lot or boat to be discarded. I respectfully disa...
