Re: Whidbey Island Critters

Keystone Jetty, December 20, 2020. Dredging continues. I took advantage of the act, that work on the site stops for the weekend. Although the currents were not favorable, I needed to test my new MiniFlash. I was able to dive only the shallower part of the jetty, the current was just too strong elsew...

Re: Whidbey Island Critters

December 15, 2020. I am afraid that my optimism about the Keystone dredging impact was premature. Yesterday I revisited the beachhead and found the ramparts reaching higher and higher, so before the work is over, we might need shovels to access the water from the parking area. And when I watched the...

Re: Divers Discover Nazi WW2 Enigma Machine in Baltic Sea

There is nothing more exciting (for me) than find something with history. That was the reason why I was obsessed with diving the wrecks in the Marshall Islands. World War II and the subsequent testing on Bikini and Enewetak atolls provided lots of opportunities On the other side of the coin, I misse...

Re: Whidbey Island Critters

It is amazing how fast some of the marine critters take hold on sunken objects. Two month ago I first visited the newly sunken sailboat in Holmes Harbor. Although the visibility is almost always poor, it is obvious from some of the snapshots, that barnacles don't waste any time to claim their territ...

Well, all this excitement about new name for Tritonia festiva ? I hope you did not write in the new name into your guidebook with pen. Skyline, December 4th. Few clouds at the beginning of the dive, clear skies when I surfaced one hour later. Underwater? Not so good, visibility murky eight feet... few slugs . Also found a sickly Striped aka Stimpson's sun star. Looks like every time I dive here, I find one of the beautiful sea star...

Thanksgiving weekend. The dredging stopped for the holiday and the Keystone was quiet. I decided to check how the Pilings, which are outside of the working area look with all the tailings piled up on the nearby beach. For once, the swim from the beach to the old wharf is not anymore a hassle. The Bu...
