Hi
I've got a friend who hasn't dove since his open water ~6 months ago that i invited who may be going! I still need to inventory his gear, but he says he needs a bc , probably size medium i'm guessing. Also needs weights. Anybody have a spare bc and weights who will 100% show up?

I don't see much mention of beverages other than coffee, and light beer, but that was before the date change. Maria, you still in?

Re: Sea Stars are Back!!!!
There's been several boom and busts since the initial crash. We should be a bit more scientific before declaring recovery, and root causing (Jeremy lol). I'm sure Jan would have a lot more to say about the boom then busts. Often sunflowers have been waisting when they reach a certain size. Let's be ...

Re: Howe Sound in early September
I forgot to mention. I vastly preferred Kelvin Grove to nearby porteau cove. At Kelvin, we got to see warbonnets, cockerels, and bootsponges. Porteau cove is kind of like a bland Edmonds. Kelvin has a bit of a hike/swim though, but not too bad. Sharkb8, several of us are going to VI the weekend befo...

Re: Howe Sound in early September
Sounds like a fun weekend! I'd think viz would be pretty good! I don't think I've had bad viz in bc in Sept. If in doubt I've got a friend who dives sea dragon weekly and he can give you a recent report ahead of time. And there's a Whytecliff Wednesdays group on Facebook you can also get recent repo...

Re: Need New Gear
Hi. I'm not too sure of this but try calling Tacoma underwater sports, I think they go spearfishing, or at least lobstering in cali. There's also a facebook group called mouthbreathers you may want to check out. I'm no expert, but it seems a lot of the local sites are over fished so people tend to t...

7/18 high tide @ Three Tree North: Viz was a muddy murky brown 10 feet at depth. In the shallows worse.
7/14 high tide @ Sunrise: Viz was a green 10-15 feet

7/14 Diving -- Sunrise & Fox island
Hi Several nwdc members went and dove Fox Island and Sunrise last weekend. I only did Sunrise, but it was great. SM did a perfect job timing it! Here were some of my snaps. Click thru the images for improved resolution (low res thumb nails may be an issue with the recent nwdc upgrade???). No big oct...

Re: ThThTh 7.18
Somebody call a local dive shop tomorrow (or scour this board) and see if there's a viz report, and post it here. If the viz is okay, let's do Redondo in hopes of Sixgill. Else three tree. I'm bringing wide angle. It was ok at 3 tree last week.

Re: Three tree and tides
TTN can have current that is stronger towards the point, and stronger during a fast flood. Ebbs are usually fine unless they're extreme. Check the wind forecast for north winds. You should be good to go 5pm sat. I'd join and show you but I'm out of town. The boat with octo underneath it would probab...

ThThTh 7/11 slurpee edition
Howdy folks! We had five divers at ththth yesterday (one ended up being shore support) We were worried about viz, and indeed the top 45 feet was a mucky green/brown cottonbally mess. But below that it was actually ok. Maybe a dark murky 12'. It was super fun getting back into the water! Octo, ratfis...

Also, there was a rumour of a sixgill at Redondo, so I'd be up for Redondo if we can get any positive viz reports

Very cool!
I don't think I've seen those jellies before. And to see the warbonnets and yelloweyes and abalone amongst the others is also very cool!
That snake island overhang is awesome, isn't it?
What size were the sunflowers?
