Re: Looking for a great inexpensive light?
I did ask at ScubaBoard... Even bumped post... Even emailed them directly through their web site... No replies. It's too bad, I'd really like to learn more about the light. Those details are a big deal with the sealed battery.

Re: Sea star die-off
I saw a dead sun star at Redondo, flopping around right by the stairs. That was about 3 weekends ago.
Reading the article... Wow, horrible!!

Re: Looking for a great inexpensive light?
I have a Hog Morph with the video head and it works great, small, light weight and a good burn time. Can you tell me how smart the charge/discharge cycle is? Specifically-- Will it let you run it down so far that it damages the lipo battery? Does it include any warnings about charging it and storin...

Re: RAW photos. What is the point?
I tend to agree with the above. Part of dealing with RAW images is having the right software which I suspect some if not most people are hesitant to spend the money on. Photoshop Elements is affordable... looks like it is $70 bought direct from Adobe. A 30 day trial is available too. I use Adobe Br...

Re: Sony Action Cam
My Black locks up whenever it is plugged in, and will not charge. Eventually, I figured out a magic ritual of taking out the battery, pressing buttons, and giving hugs. It's completely stock, no LCD back. I decided to live with it because if you study the support forums, lots of people have much wor...

Re: Sony Action Cam
The GoPro has proven track record... Of quirkiness. Hey, I have 2, I don't hate them... But they can be fussy. Options are good.

Re: RAW photos. What is the point?
RAW is for professionals who want total control of the post processing. For the average lay person it is a study in frustration. That's an exaggeration. I am not a pro and for me, working with a RAW file takes about 20% longer than working with a jpg but yields much better results. It's all about t...

Re: Is Water an Insulator in a Wetsuit?
However, I am debating the issue with someone who is creating curriculum for certifying divers and currently believes that water inside the suite after being warmed to body temp becomes and insulator. I really need some hard science that will convince the other side to change his view. LCF and Capt...

Re: Missing diver off Blakely Rocks
The Inside Bainbridge article says, "Yesterday, one of two divers who were exploring off the edges of Blakely Rock noticed his diving partner was no longer following him. He retraced his path and found his buddy unresponsive." When I was a brand new diver, that was my nightmare scenario. I...

Re: Second cenote video -- Gran Cenote
I can feel the cave bug nibbling at me for sure... I don't want to wait years and years til my next underground, underwater experience like I just did. But I'll scratch the itch with more cenote tours. Getting cave or even cavern certified is just not something I'm going to do for a variety of reaso...

Re: Second cenote video -- Gran Cenote
The rules say you only need OW. You have a guide, and you follow the guide, and you stay in the "cavern zone" which is 150 or 200 ft from the entrance. You are always supposed to be in view of sunlight, so if all the lights go out, you can still get out. You also run on the rule of thirds,...
